So, myself and a couple of my relatives are tossing around the idea of riding to Birmingham on Labor Day weekend and seeing the Barber Motorsports Museum. It's about a 6 to 6 1/2hr ride from where we live in Little Rock. For those of yiu that have been there, is it worth it? I hear it is.

Tell me what to expect.

Thanks

I live maybe 7 or 8 miles from Barber's and have never visited the museum. Most that do visit, love it. If you decide to make the trip, let me know, and if nothing else, will give you some better riding routes to get there while avoiding Bham.

i live about 35 miles from it. just took a group of 30 bikes there during the international rally last week. everybody seems to have enjoyed it greatly! read over on the thread for it and y'all probably see some pics of it. i got the guy there to let us go down to the bottom floor where they do all the work and have a big storage room of bikes too. normally it's only open during special events. if you wait and come during the vintage days race and swap meet, y'all see thousands of bike and 3 days of races. let me know when you are coming for sure and i'll try to meet up with y'all and show y'all around and eat some good food too!

IT IS CERTAINLY WORTH ATTENDING!!!! Make sure you bring plenty of batteries for your camera. Also FYI, eat and drink prior to going as there is no food or drink allowed. You will find the craziest things there. And here is a little known secret I heard from the armed security...

1- each vehicle and stuff there is privately owned

2- the basement below is storage for MORE vehicle, they say as many as there are for us to see. They have a guy, whose sole job is to travel the world, looking for rare, original vehicles.

It was awesome and I will definitely go back.

The Barber Museum is, without question, a must-see! It houses an extraordinarily rare and diversified collection.

As stated before, don't go hungry, but do allow yourself plenty of time to take it all in.

I have seen some folks get through it pretty quickly (in an hour or so), but as one who soaks it all in, looks at everything and reads all of the information, it takes me a good 2 1/2 - 3 hours.

During the Vintage Race Days, the place will be very crowded, and there are lots of other things to see and do.The swap meet is a half day visit by itself. Most major MC companies will have demo days during the racing. There is camping onsite btw.

No. The vintage weekend is in October.

During the Vintage Festival open house they actually race old bikes: road race, trials, and motocross. Seeing bikes preserved on pedestals with plaques that outline their history is great, and they have a lot of those bikes to show. But hearing them run, watching them make their way down the track attempting to win a speed competition - that's the next level!

I love the V8 Kawasaki. That is one amazing piece of work.

The V8 was cool but there was a V12 created by the same guy. Two inline 6's stuck together

if enough folks are coming to the vinatage days event, i'll check with a motel that i have used for a couple of other rallies i host here and see if he'll give us a special rate this time too. it's nice and in a good part of town thats only 8 miles from barber's and good places to eat. last time he gave us a $50 a night rate. there is camping at the barber's park, but it's usually filled up in a couple month of setting the rally date. there is camp[ng sites around the area if any needs it.

when are you going to be here and what nights will you be staying at the motel? once i get a list of days and how many rooms you need, i'll got talk with the mangere and see what he can do. i'll then list the motel imfo and a password to use to get the discount. you'll have to call the motel and make resevervations and payment for it. i'm going to start a new thread under "barber's".
