Back home. Had a great time as usual. Always great to see all our VR friends and to make new ones. If the rest of you want to experience one of the best Rally's VR has to offer, then be here next year. Yes it is already in the planning stage. We already have a theme and the same band will be there. Big Tom And team will fill you in when all the details are hammered out. So set aside the time for early next August. Dates to follow. Thanks again to Terry and Michelle for allowing us to invade your wonderful establishment. You guys are the best.:thumbsup2:

At Matt's, then an hour ride and I'll be home.

Thanks to Big Tom and crew for a great rally and all the work that goes into planning such an event. We really enjoyed the hospitality and the activities. Really nice to meet and chat with folks. (we were still spotting items for the scavenger hunt on the way home)

Stopped in Mt. Jewett on the way home and thought of Tom.......

Arrived home safely. Unpacked cleaned and hung my camping gear to dry And now I get to sit and relax a bit (at least until the dog actually realizes I am home and pulls my walking shoes out of the closet, the leash out of the empty flower pot, dumping it all on the floor in front of me and then grabbing me by my wrist pulling me off the couch just to take him for a walk....That dog has no sympathy)

Any way as I was about to say before the dog distracted me, We arrived in WNY to be confronted by a big guy I think they called Tom.

The first words out of his mouth is UGH!! Canadians ---Go Home ----We do not want you here. However as I explained to him, or at least tried too. We did not want to be there either, except that some fool American (ragtop) who apparently had too much Apple Pie tripped over the border line and fell on the Canadian side. After a lot of bogus paperwork the four of us (Yes it took four of us Despite his tiny size) Drew the short straws and got stuck with the job of having to escort him all the way to Chaffee NY.

However Despite this Tom Characters attitude These four good looking women (Robin, Taters, Becky and Michelle (from Pioneer) took an instant liking to us and insisted we stay for the full weekend of festivities.

What was really cool we actually saw two real live Vikings. Though I was rather surprised. because I always thought it took more than two vikings to handle those big rowing oars. Obviously thoses two characters are a pretty wiry pair :whistling:

I do have to hand it to this Tom Character though, He and his crew with help from Michelle and Terry from Pioneer Motorsports put on a wonderfull festive event.

With any luck some other poor American soul will again be over whelmed by Apple Pie and we will once again have to do our duty and escort the poor soul back :whistling:

THANKS WNY, I HAD A GREAT TIME

From riding to and from the event with fellow Canadians, Tooch, Herb1, and sleepy and our US buddy Ragtop69gs and too meeting, Greeting and sharing in the fun with both new and old members from both sides of the border.

Jonas it was good to see you again old friend and to meet Chris whose visit I hope will be a memorable one.

SEE Y'ALL NEXT YEAR IF NOT SOONER (Yeah Tom -- Like it or not this Canadian is coming back)

Once again, we had a great time at the rally. My thanks and appreciation to all the WNY gang who put so much into this event and make it the great success that it is.

We left this morning and headed south down 219 into Maryland on our way to the BRP. what a great start for our two week ride south into the Smokies.

Joyce & I had a great time at the rally talking & enjoying time with new & old friends alike. Even thou we caged it in the Miata too.

Our only trouble was with someone who put a serious scratch on the passengers door last night or early this morning. Grrrr. Unfortunately we didn't see it till we got home. Got a pm from cecdoo confirming it was done at Microtel's parking lot. Don't know if it was deliberately done or by a very careless person but ether way we're saddened. Its fixable and life will continue on.

Looking forward to the next VR.org gathering

Larry

BTW: Ragtop is pretty lucky he even made it home today. Good thing the border agents didn't find his ammo clip when they did a search of his bike. Might of been tough on him explaining where the gun was. Same for the apple pie but I'd beat the evidence was all drunk before this morning. LOL

Angel & I would like to thank Big Tom & Taters, and Bongo Bob & Becky for the hospitality they provided us on this trip. It really is appreciated.

Thanks to all who put on this rally. It really was a great time, and it was well organized. We really enjoyed the scavenger hunt, even if we missed it by a few points.

Great to see everyone again!:thumbsup2:

We also took off, headed down 219. We took our time, stopping to see Punxatawny Phil, and then we saw the Flight 93 Memorial. We are currently holed up in the hotel, just about to enter Maryland. We'll ride down through W. Va, then into East Tn, on to Middle Tn, where we call home. Not in a big hurry. Hoping to get home sometime on Tuesday.

Thanks again for the great times!

It was an interesting ride home, crossed from USA into Canada at the Peace bridge in Buffalo, the nice lady at the customs booth must have liked me because she invited me to stay a bit longer  pull into area 3 she say's, there 4 nice fellas were waiting to inspect my belongings, I guess they don't want dirty laundry crossing the border :confused24: After emptying my trailer and all the bags on the bike they said have a good day  I did up until that point. My trip across Ontario was uneventful till I got to the ferry crossing at Sombra, On. There are normally 2 ferry boats running but they blew the transmission in one of them :crying: 1 1/2 hours later I get on the boat, U.S. customs was nicer to me as they passed me right thru :clap2: . Almost home.... but naw not so fast... 4 lane hwy reduced to 1 :bang head: stuck in slow motion for 1 mile, backed up as far as I could see so I found an alternate route. Finally rolled into my garage at 6:20 :cool10: Home safe and sound.

THANK YOU TO THE NY CREW FOR PUTTING ON A FUN WEEKEND :thumbsup2::thumbsup2: :clap2:

Tom first I want to say I'm sorry (in more ways than one) I didn't get back to the meet. When I got back to my Daughters house I went to shut the bike off and the motor would but all the lights stayed on like the key was not turned off. Well I dug into it and found that I over did the solenoid install for the key switch. When I put it all together I used marine heat shrink tubing great stuff but.... When I heated up the heat shrink all the epoxy was forced into all the nooks and crannies in and around the spade connections. Problem was it cut the contact area way down and the resistance went up as the current draw went up also causing it to heat up making the problem worse. Long story short I had to splice wires to replace burned up wires, as usual it was worse as I dug into it. Well got it fixed late Friday afternoon. I thought I could make it Saturday but my grandson had a football game and couldn't pass that up. Looks like I'll be buying a used wiring harness to "fix" the wiring correctly but for now it got me back home to Boston and should hold for a while.

So here is to next year and this time once I get there my butt isn't moving.

I'd like to thank Tom & the WNY gang for the great job of hosting this rally. It's the first time I've been to this one. BUT more important it was the 1st rally I was able to talk Cathy into going on. The job you guys did and the great group we have made a wonderful impression on her and she has already started talking about going next year!!! :dancefool:

A special note for MJ44 (Mary Joe) don't know what your conversation with Cathy was about. I do know she enjoyed your talk very much and looks forward to seeing you again. Thanks!

Oh.! And Saddlebum I'm glad it sounds like you DIDN'T have another "Near death experience", between the time you split-off from Herb1 & I and made it home. :rotfl:

That was because there were no tent ropes to trip over on the way home. :whistling: Now if everybody was like Yammer, and would leave their poles and ropes at home bringing only the tent......I wouldn't have a problem at all.:confused24:

Glad you guy's made it home safe as well and that goes for everybody.

Hey Sleepy !! You should have stuck with us a little longer. Shortly after you split off we passed one of the biggest outdoor flea and antique markets I have seen in awhile right off the highway. We know how you love those and how that Draw winning was burning a hole in your pocket. :mo money:

I great time with everybody and really enjoyed myself.

Conversation could have been a bit better but I kept running out words :whistling: :confused24:

Sorry I missed the rally. Long story that involves me getting back with Carol, buying a new home and being asked to help with a rally with the members of my brothers forum the Honda Shadow Ace tourer riders. The rally organizer Joe Tascone lives not to far from Bongo and he can never find guys to ride with. So I told him what a great bunch the venture group is .

Being with those riders also made me realize how much I missed you all. I had let my membership lapse but I've renewed it and hope to be more involved again. Being with those riders made me realize all the friends i had walked away from. What was worse is that My brother did that to them as well. He's selling his bike because of his age. thats understandable. But walking a way from friends? many of them missed my brother and even asked me to get him to come down but he wouldn't. That's when I realized what good friends I had left behind here. Too many such good friends. For that I apologize though I know I probably don't have to. Sorry I missed your rally but i used what you taught me in your rallies to show my group a good time. we had members from Colorado, Texas, West Virginia, South Carolina and two couples from Cananda. In fact one of the Canadians was from Deb and Daryls' Valkeryie forum. His name was Adrian.

Anyway, I organized a nice finger lakes ride. Much like the the First one I did for the Venture Riders but we also had great weather here and a great location in Watkins Glen a motel called the Seneca Lodge. I may do a fall ride here. I hope to talk to you and Bongo and others about it. Good to be back. Phil.

Thanks EVERYONE for the great time and fellowship shown .

Thanks to the New York gang for organizing and entertainment .

Pioneer Motorsports for the use of their facilities etc.Great people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I did better at conversing with more people this year than normal(still a work in progress) Thanks to everyone I did get to talk to this year. Had some good conversations with many people. Learned a lot.

Ben--Thought about going to Casablanca then turning off like I did last year but it might not have been far enough to see the flee market. So will probably put my winnings in bank to save for trip next year.

All ready planning on trip next year.

female to stay at Bens Nichols Brook Hotel and survive to tell the tale.........

For Kim, Linda and Cathy - I took some photos of the interior as we were packing to leave. It was neat and clean when we arrived. Old place. A/C worked, some free ice when the office was open, mini fridge and microwave, didn't hear the road noise and best of all, REALLY CLOSE to Pioneer.

Enjoyed talking and laughing with you ladies, and everyone else!
