rbig1 Posted August 1, 2014 #1 Posted August 1, 2014 well i cant get bike to run with out full choke. wont rev sound like running on two. started to drain fuel bowls. number one drained couple pieces of sand out. number two hose is off screw is in so tight wont move. number three hose is off wont move stuck also. number four screw opened, no fuel, tried to put small wire in hose went in and stopped half inch in. reached behind holder there was a bulge. pulled hose out of holder well what do ya know a roller bearing is shoved in there. I spent good money to have them rebuilt a year and a half ago. my question is how big of a flow should I have with pump running. the two that drained seamed like a weak supply fuel. never stopped for fuel coming home from up north. problem started the next day. and pump is louder. so I got p*&^^ off going to fix all little problems. changed the other coils that I never bothered to change don't think they were bad. one wire had a white ring by coil. took every connector apart and added die grease to them if they showed green cleaned. took all non working cb parts out. did I mention replaced fan relay. added compressor for cheep horns. removed ycs vacuum tanks. found my rattle that started on long ride, back heat shield on exhaust. im not happy:bang head:
rbig1 Posted August 1, 2014 Author #2 Posted August 1, 2014 anyone know of aftermarket pump and filter part numbers. looks like you have to take tire off. hope not cant get bike on center stand. cant pull backwards. let alone pull tire off. I got one coil off with out removing faring so I will try to remove it with tire installed.
Peder_y2k Posted August 1, 2014 #3 Posted August 1, 2014 Don't need to remove wheel to get the fuel pump out. IIRC the left rear foot rest needs to be removed to access the pump. Don't know of any direct replacement pump with both inlet and outlet at same end, but a universal 12v car fuel pump will work as long as it was designed for carbureted vehicles. I carry a Facet fuel pump with extra hose as a spare and can fit it to my bike and have it working in 1/2 hour. -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA
Marcarl Posted August 1, 2014 #4 Posted August 1, 2014 sounds to me like you should pull the carbs clean them and put on a new fuel hose from the pump to the carbs and a new filter.often carbs rebuilds are not quite what the mech says was done, he might have just sprayed them in place and done a shotgun job. with what you described that seems to be the case.
