Bodaggit23 Posted July 27, 2014 #1 Posted July 27, 2014 My 1997 Tour Deluxe had this on it when I got it but it has a few spots that are bare rusted metal and look horrible so I took it off. Looks much better without it. But...I want a new one. I can't find it in any parts list for my bike or any other Royal Star 1996-2001. I assume this was a stock part, why is it not listed in the parts diagram? http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b521/Bodaggit23/FenderBumper_zps83ea1be1.jpg
Freebird Posted July 27, 2014 #2 Posted July 27, 2014 Most likely was not a stock part. Probably a Yamaha part but an accessory. It wouldn't be shown in the parts diagram.
gsmski3484 Posted July 27, 2014 #3 Posted July 27, 2014 show chrome accessories P/N: 61-112A yamaha P/N: STR-4XY14-10-00 or str4nk141000 either one should work, show chrome is going to be cheaper. Have you tried Naval Jelly to get the rust off?

Have you tried Naval Jelly to get the rust off? Thanks for the part number! That's the item I'm looking for but it's not correct for my bike. That one is for the later/current models I think. The mount is different and the rails are longer on mine. Where did you get that part number? I need it for a 1997 Tour Deluxe. Have you tried Naval Jelly to get the rust off? I've always used Turtle Wax Chrome Polish to remove rust spots from my chrome. Problem is, someone removed the chrome from my rust spots! http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b521/Bodaggit23/1997%20Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Tour%20Deluxe/IMG_20140727_105655_120_zps986a292a.jpg http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b521/Bodaggit23/1997%20Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Tour%20Deluxe/IMG_20140727_105712_331_zps1cc44606.jpg Edited July 27, 2014 by Bodaggit23
MikeWa Posted July 27, 2014 #5 Posted July 27, 2014 Add on part. The one you have is Show Chrome, straight side rails. The Yamaha accessory has curved side rails. I no longer see a listing for the Yamaha part though. Do a search with the part number above and it will come up. Mike

And actually, the first picture in this thread shows the "Yamaha Accessory" part, with curved rails. Which means it would probably fit my bike. I didn't think it would because it looked so different and I thought it was for a different bike. A Google search of the above part number shows the Yamaha part, with curved side rails. Problem is, I don't like the looks of the one with curved side rails. I like the straight side rails plus the top rail on mine is longer, wraps around much farther. So, I guess what I need is the part number for the show chrome part. Edited July 27, 2014 by Bodaggit23

Bodaggit23 Posted July 28, 2014 Author #10 Posted July 28, 2014 I saw that one, and it looks closer to mine, but it looked like the other style mount, with a single hole on either side. Maybe it's the exact same as I have, it's so hard to tell from any pics I've seen. I kind off like this I like that too! Do you have a link? try pepsi and 00 steel wool That would work for most of it, but no amount of polishing will bring back the chrome on the spots where it's chipped off and the bare metal beneath is exposed and rusted.
StarFan Posted July 28, 2014 #11 Posted July 28, 2014 I like that too! Do you have a link? It is the original one from Yamaha - I just cut off the front lower tubing and added some lights myself. Here is a link to the write up I did on the forum: http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21161
Bodaggit23 Posted July 28, 2014 Author #12 Posted July 28, 2014 Actually after reading closer, that one is a four point mount, so no worries there. It just has that slight bend close to the forks...
