bill4you502 Posted July 26, 2014 #1 Posted July 26, 2014 (edited) Need help folks! Left rear turn signal is not working. Seems to be a progressive problem as it use to happen when the bike or weather was cold; worked as it warmed up. I had a Kuryakyn run-turn-brake module installed and recently installed side marker run-turn LED's. I have checked all wiring and bulbs. I tried the 4-way emergency flashers and the left rear is out; front and right rear work as normal!! Can the flasher module be at fault? Am I missing something else? It's a '06 RSV with 39,000 miles. Any help would be appreciated!!!! P.S. I also installed a rear LED light bar (Run-brake only) under the top trunk; wired to wire bundle behind license plate. I'll ck to see if the left right turn connection came unplugged! Edited July 27, 2014 by bill4you502
Freebird Posted July 26, 2014 #2 Posted July 26, 2014 Since you have checked the bulbs, I assume you would have mentioned if you found water and corrosion in the housing? That is a problem that I've seen a number of times on the RSV. I've changed a couple of them out for folks. It's always the left rear. I suppose that is because the bike leans to the left when on the stand and water seems to collect in it.
bill4you502 Posted July 26, 2014 Author #3 Posted July 26, 2014 (edited) Thanks Don....Yes, I checked for corrosion & traces of water damage and found none. I also keep the bike upright in a wheel chock device at home. Edited July 27, 2014 by bill4you502
Neil86 Posted July 26, 2014 #4 Posted July 26, 2014 (edited) You could test for voltage cycling at socket with left turn signal on.....try using an alternate known good ground. If good there...retest using socket ground....should pinpoint if problem is on power side or ground side. Edited July 26, 2014 by Neil86
XV1100SE Posted July 26, 2014 #5 Posted July 26, 2014 Could also replace the left turn signal bulbs front and back. Few bucks just to totally rule that out. Or swap left/right and see if it follows one of the bulbs.
bill4you502 Posted July 27, 2014 Author #6 Posted July 27, 2014 Thanks Don, I did reverse the rear bulbs and then replaced the left one with no change. Thanks for the suggest!!!!!!

That's my next chore as I'm not good with multimeters, but, I do have a test light!!!
JerryT Posted July 27, 2014 #8 Posted July 27, 2014 I would test the RTB controller to make sure it's working. If you have a simple test light, I'ld test both going in and out of the controller. Hopefully the disconnect plug under the seat is still there which is a very easy place for first test spot. Might help isolate the area of the problem.
