hipshot Posted March 14, 2008 #1 Posted March 14, 2008 i don't really know where to start this, so i'll just post the particulars, and field questions as they arise. on MAY 3, 2008, a group of local sponsors, are going to be bringing about 200, "wounded warriors", down from "BROOKS ARMY MEDICAL CENTER, in san antonio. these guys are all wounded COMBAT veterans, who are in the processes of healing. they will be treated to a day of fishing and visiting at PORT O'CONNOR, TEXAS. they will be coming down by bus, and escorted EVERY inch of the way, by local leo's and pgr riders. EVERYONE is invited to come down and show their support. just pick out one of these "broken warriors",and spend the day "just being there for him/her". or visit with ALL of them. their immediate families, are often hundreds of miles away, and they have nothing to do but sit around BAMC, and recover. our south texas P.G.R , guys will be there to do what ever we can to make this happen , and be a success. . disclaimer: if i have offended anyone , with this post, let me apologize now, and be done with it. just jt.
Guest Popeye Posted March 14, 2008 #2 Posted March 14, 2008 Sounds like a GREAT plan hipshot, we'll try to make it. A tough time of year for us, though.
Freebird Posted March 14, 2008 #3 Posted March 14, 2008 I think it is fantastic. I hope it is a HUGE success. I can't imagine anybody being offending by a group wishing to bring some joy into the lives of those injured serving our country. If anybody is offended by it, that's their problem and certainly nothing that you have to apologize for. Thanks for posting it.

If you have offended anyone, they really have a problem. You don't need to apoligize for doing a great thing. Sounds like everyone is going to benefit from an event like this the warriors and the public.
hipshot Posted March 14, 2008 Author #5 Posted March 14, 2008 i forgot to post the web link, so here it is , if anyone is interested. http://www.warriorsweekend.org. just jt
eagleeye Posted March 14, 2008 #6 Posted March 14, 2008 Offended?, I don't think so. Everyone involved should be very proud of what they are doing for our veterans. Hell, I'm proud of what they are doing, and I'm way up here in Wisconsin. I can only hope that there is more of this going on around the country. Does my heart good to read something like this. Thanks, Steve
hipshot Posted March 14, 2008 Author #7 Posted March 14, 2008 steve, as far as i know, this is th ONLY event of this nature! our boys and girls at arms, deserve more than this small token of appreciation notice to anyone who plans to attend: bring at least TWO large bandannas. when these charred and wounded boys and girls , start filing off the buses, you will shed tears!no way around it! and when they load up , to return home, there will be MORE tears, of a different sort! just jt
lonestarmedic Posted March 14, 2008 #8 Posted March 14, 2008 Well, since I work on base at Fort Sam this one I won't miss. Let me know the particulars. I would be honored to run down with them. Be a good time to visit with y'all again. Drop off Rattlesnake's laptop and participate in a great cause. JB

JB j.b! the guy that set this all up, has REQUESTED, that you meet with him , and snake, and another promoter, on the 17th of april, at BAMC. they will be doing a "cook-out" for the guys, as a sort of "preliminary", meet and eat. ron kocian, is his name, and snake has all the details. one of the promoters, was also a "combat medic instructor", you might know him. just jt
BigShell Posted March 14, 2008 #10 Posted March 14, 2008 Hey jt, The SA pgr has a capt who works bamc and a another member who is our hoth (Help on the Homefront) coordinator. He has several Ft Sam and bamc contacts. Could be they are already involved, but I don't know that for sure. Let me know if they can help in some way (if they aren't already involved).
lonestarmedic Posted March 14, 2008 #11 Posted March 14, 2008 I will put the 17th on my list. Tell him to look for a crotchety old firefighter on an old bike with a 232nd Medical Battalion shirt. Be glad to represent however I can. I'm not a PGR but I'll do my best for you. JB

hipshot Posted March 14, 2008 Author #18 Posted March 14, 2008 couple of WRINKLES, that need ironing out , here! first, i personally had NO part in organizing this event(although i wish i had thought of it),i merely asked MR.Kocian, for permission to post this up , on here. he was elated! said to tell anyone who can make it, to be SURE and wear ALL your "regalia", i guess that means a patched up vest! lol as for donations for this event, i have nothing to do with that , either. i guess if you would like to contribute, you could go to the "link",posted earlier, and contact ron kocian. or---- maybe we could all donate a small amount, and let one of the moderators, donate it in the name of "VENTURERIDER.ORG.!!! i think that would be cool! oh and by the way. i had no intention , of "soliciting" anything from you guys. just wanted to get the word out. thank you all for your kind words, wish i somehow deserved them. just jt
Freebird Posted May 8, 2008 #19 Posted May 8, 2008 Here are some pics that Rattlesnake sent me from this event. I think this was a fantastic thing to do and sure wish I could have been there.
