BlueSky Posted July 20, 2014 #1 Posted July 20, 2014 I realized tonight that Yamaha still offers new hard copy shop manuals and owners manuals for my 89 Venture. They are listed as print on demand. YamahaPubs.com
videoarizona Posted July 20, 2014 #2 Posted July 20, 2014 Good find! Only question I have is it really printed from clean data or scanned like the 3rd party manuals. I'd hate to spend $100 for a scanned copy...

Flyinfool Posted July 20, 2014 #4 Posted July 20, 2014 If you want a free scanned copy you can come to my house and play with my scanner and my manual for 180 pages. The print on demand showed as available for my 88 but when it came down to it the did not have it available. After much searching I found an original owners manual on ebay. I am perfectly happy with the PDF service manual that I can store in my phone for on the road or on my computer for use at home. I tend to destroy paper manuals.
dvuch1 Posted July 20, 2014 #5 Posted July 20, 2014 I have both paper and pdf and prefer to print what I am working on get it all dirty and throw it away. My manual gets a lot of unnecessary wear n tear. I liked the idea of downloading it to my phone....thanks for the thought ...
friesman Posted July 20, 2014 #6 Posted July 20, 2014 go here and print your own using your own printer...also the Service manuals here too. I just loaded the pdf to my tablet and take it out to work on the bike. http://www.yamahaventure.nl/en/servicemanuals.html Brian
Money Venture Posted July 21, 2014 #8 Posted July 21, 2014 I print the pages I need for what I am doing. When I am finished, if they are bad I toss them. I can always reprint more when needed.
BlueSky Posted July 21, 2014 Author #9 Posted July 21, 2014 I have the digital manual. Just wanted a hard copy if it is available new like the manual I ordered for my Yamaha outboard.
dna9656 Posted July 23, 2014 #10 Posted July 23, 2014 Tech Spark (ebay) offers a GREAT manual, it's Yamaha, no new info but it's clear and well done.
saddlebum Posted July 23, 2014 #11 Posted July 23, 2014 I have a hard copy manual for my 89 I ordered right through the dealer. Only thing I find is the drawings are good but the pictures are horrible. I wonder if these are any better.

I obtained a used 42" flat screen tv for a good price. I use it as a monitor. Those lousy pictures Yamaha has in the manual are way more clear when you make them 14" X 17". You can also read the text from about 20' away too....the image never falls in an oil pan, get carried away by the wind, gets stepped on, or have to be weighted down with a wrench or other tool. I'm sure there are some TVs like this at the local good will or on craigslist.... Edited July 23, 2014 by dna9656

Your telling me there are better TVs at Goodwill than what I have in my living room?

BlueSky Posted July 23, 2014 Author #16 Posted July 23, 2014 I loved my 32" Tube TV but my wife wanted HD tv so we bought a 46" HD flat screen. The 32" got mad when we took it upstairs and the audio quit working. So, I tossed it in a dumpster at the county dump. That thing was way heavy!
Bodaggit23 Posted July 24, 2014 #17 Posted July 24, 2014 My 55" weighs about 75lbs., it's in my living room hooked to my Home Theater PC and we watch Netflix and such, and w/e. My 46" weighs about 60lbs., it's in my bedroom hooked to an old laptop for the same. Flat screens are so much crisp and clearer than old CRT's and you have the joy of hooking up a computer to them. I'll never go back! Sorry for my contribution to the sidetrack of the thread!
BlueSky Posted July 25, 2014 Author #18 Posted July 25, 2014 I got a shipping notice, so something is being sent to me. I'll let you guys and gals know what when it arrives.
BlueSky Posted August 2, 2014 Author #19 Posted August 2, 2014 The owner and shop manuals came and they are bound manuals just like I hoped.
videoarizona Posted August 2, 2014 #20 Posted August 2, 2014 The owner and shop manuals came and they are bound manuals just like I hoped. Favor? Go to the last few pages of the shop manual and look at the electrical schematic for the bike. Are the wire color legends readable? On the scanned manual we can download, when I zoom in enough to wehre I could read the color legends, they are blurred! Please let me know how clear the printing is... thanks! david
Prairiehammer Posted August 2, 2014 #21 Posted August 2, 2014 David, Download Dingy's excellent wiring diagram. It is in full color and when printed out onto 13x19 paper, it is the perfect size and clarity. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42358
MikeWa Posted August 2, 2014 #22 Posted August 2, 2014 I just received the 'print on demand' shop manual for my 2010 Venture. It is bound the same as my lost original manual. The only thing is the photo on the cover is really crappy. The rest of the manual is the same as the original. Mike
