I'm putting new spark plugs into the RSV and just wondered ... is there anything special that needs to be done when the two front engine braces are removed? The engine is solidly bolted and these just seem to be there to stiffen things up, but I'd like to be sure.

that's how I did mine also. I did do the front one first in case I had trouble. but it was smooth and easy. just loosen the tank and put a towel under it.

Be sure to blow out the plug area with compressed air before removing plug. Wouldnt want a small stone or other grit dropping into cyl.

Or use the "famous" Lint Lizard (as seen on TV) :rotf::rotf::rotf: and a shop vac

Used compressed air - couldn't find a lint lizard ! Everything went reasonably well, although I was wishing that I could shrink my hands down to better get at the plugs. I mean it's not like there really big, but - sheesh! those are some tight spaces! I'll put the tank back on in the morning and hope she starts and runs well after all that 3 cylinder fun Thursday after the wash job.

Too late now for ya, but next time slip a piece of rubber fuel line on to the end of the plug. Maybe 6 inches long. Should be a snug fit and it will act as an extension.

Thanks - I actually thought of doing that but couldn't find any tubing of the right size anywhere in the humongous pile of sh .... er, I mean in the large supply of parts I keep in the basement. I won't repeat what my wife calls it!

I know what you mean about finding something like that when you need it. In this case I keep the same piece of rubber hose right with my spark plug socket

Ditto on one side at a time and blowing out the cavity. Make sure the brace bolts go back in straight. You didn't mention tank removal, but I found out pulling it back and supporting it on a piece of 2X4 was sufficient. I had no problem with plug removal using a long extension.
