KIC Posted July 18, 2014 #1 Posted July 18, 2014 Last night on my way home form a friend's I noticed that my temp gauge was dropping lower than normal when i was slowly accelerating. As I played with it, I found that upon fast acceleration the needle would drop to the bottom of the gauge. This would not occur if I revved the engine, only upon acceleration. Then when I drove up my driveway into the garage it dropped to the bottom with a quick burst of speed, but not a good rev. What the heck ??????? .
GeorgeS Posted July 18, 2014 #2 Posted July 18, 2014 1. Loose wire on temp sensor 2. Bad temp sensor 3. Defective Gauge assembly. Most likely the wire is loose on the temp sensor !! :detective:
Neil86 Posted July 18, 2014 #3 Posted July 18, 2014 Typically its #1 on GeorgeS list. The sensor connector is a bullet type, remove, squeeze slightly, reattach.
KIC Posted July 18, 2014 Author #4 Posted July 18, 2014 Thanks guys. I checked the wire and it did seem loose. I am going to ride the bike today and will see if it works correctly. Thanks
KIC Posted July 18, 2014 Author #5 Posted July 18, 2014 That seemed to be the issue. Rode it quite a bit today... even though it is 105 degrees :scorched:outside, and the temp gauge stayed pretty steady at 3/4 of the gauge. Thanks again.
Yammer Dan Posted July 18, 2014 #6 Posted July 18, 2014 The Yamaha shop would have charged you about 2 hrs worth of labor for that one. The Hardley shop would have still been looking!!
