FuzzyRSTD Posted July 16, 2014 #1 Posted July 16, 2014 I have a trunk now, thanks to Phoneman1982, and it is being painted to match my color scheme of my bike. Thanks to Kickshot and Oldbutnewrider I have the extra backrest. I am so blessed to be a part of the site here. I am very thankful for everyones help and kind gestures. I do fully plan on paying it forward to others. Thank you very very much. Was wondering if anyone took any photos of a trunk project add on ? ** Especially when using the quick release backrest. This is what I plan on doing. Cutting the sissy bar off and installing the trunk onto the luggage rack. I have saw some completed installs, but no real photos of the process. I am assuming you just cut the sissy bar off at the top of the luggage rack bracket and go from there. Any help, photos would be greatly appreciated. Fuzzy
FuzzyRSTD Posted July 16, 2014 Author #2 Posted July 16, 2014 I forgot to mention that I did do a search and found no photos of the sissy bar cut off idea.

Phoneman1981 Posted July 17, 2014 #4 Posted July 17, 2014 Hello Fuzzy: Glad to help. I hope your project turns out good. Keep us updated and take pictures.
Bodaggit23 Posted July 17, 2014 #5 Posted July 17, 2014 Like this?? Those are not Royal Star's correct? They look like Road Star's with V-Twins. I understand the concept is the same as far as the trunk goes, I'm just curious. I'd also like a trunk for my 1997 but I don't think they made a RSV for my generation of bike.
djh3 Posted July 18, 2014 #6 Posted July 18, 2014 After I posted the pics I saw I may have boo boo'd. I think the blue one is a road star, the other is the early TD I believe with the 4 pipe exhaust. Ask around over on the Delphi forums here and see if someone can help ya out.
M61A1MECH Posted July 18, 2014 #7 Posted July 18, 2014 The blue one is a V-Star, the silver one is Road Star.
billmac Posted July 23, 2014 #8 Posted July 23, 2014 may need a larger rack the RSTD rack is small and curves up. a larger trunk will not last very long on the small rack.
wolfrider Posted July 25, 2014 #9 Posted July 25, 2014 I bought a Venture trunk support rack off ebay for under $100. Took off the passenger backrest and removed the 2 quick release studs. Put on the trunk. Easy Peazy. lol
jemorrisonjr Posted July 26, 2014 #10 Posted July 26, 2014 In my photos here I have a picture of my bike with trunk and Venture seats..
2006 RSTD Posted September 20, 2014 #12 Posted September 20, 2014 Hey billmac....got any pics of the wompus rack installed you would be willing to share?....I am getting ready to try and install a large tour trunk Thanks
Bsintheair Posted March 23, 2015 #13 Posted March 23, 2015 I used a Matuza HD Tour pack with lights, and a Venture trunk rack. Added rubber stoppers under the trunk to take up the space between it and the rack. Ordered a Die-cut YAMAHA sticker to put where that other name usually goes. And a wiring harness from Steve (http://www.venturerider.org/forum/members/m61a1mech) to power it up.
