Well I am off to pick up my new bike, its about 30f hoping it warms up alittle, I have a feeling the temps arent going to matter much on that 100 mile ride home. Really anxious to ride the 06 never rode a 2nd gen, never dropped the 1st gen, hope to keep that streak going on the new one:whistling: I will give my first impressions after the trip. Craig

Whew! From the tittle of the thread, I thought you had already dropped it!!! :rotf:

 

Congrats on the new ride and your right, the temps won't matter too much; you'll be too busy diggin' the new scoot! :7_6_3[1]:

You may get cold on the outside but a warm and happy feeling will be on the inside. A little shiver :snow2::snow2: never hurt no one. Enjoy your ride.

Congrats on the ride. I picked my up in a snow storm, but had to have it in the garage asap. Rode it the next day....that was Nov 06. I still like it better every time I ride it.:080402gudl_prv:

A rider in PA picking up a new scoot knows very well how to dress.

 

Try to keep mileage down to 300-400 miles today. :)

Hi Guys, Thanks for the comments, just got in from shining her up:whistling: I must say after reading all the posts on the slow speed handling of the 2nd gen, I was a little concerned about the ride home, but I have to say I really dont get it? The bike handles fine, I really had no trouble at all at slow speeds, and its got a big ass Bridgestone on the front, Had to do some fancy manuevers rite off the bat at a gas station and the bike handled beautiful, very predictable. The ride home was awesome, the bike is solid, tracks perfectly at highway speeds and you really have to keep your eye on the speedo, just purrs at about 85mph. I am only 5'5" and 165lbs but the bike seems to fit me very well, Never had heel toe shifter, so that took some getting use to, I am very happy with the bike, the pipes are a little louder than I like and I may swap them out, but it is one beautiful machine. Ended up putting about 200 miles on today, even took the wife out for a short spin, she couldnt get over all the extra room. I think I will be very happy with this bike for a long time, let the chroming begin:rotf: Craig

He is still riding his new 2nd Gen.

The speed switching from a 1st gen might have gone down alittle but the comfort has just been lifted:stirthepot:

I just bought my 99 RSV on Jan. 6 of this year. I'm from Michigan and I'm sure you know how cold it can be here, but even though we had a warm up that day (around 40 deg.), I never felt the wind even at 90 mph. My teeth were a little cold though.:big-grin-emoticon: I love this bike and i'm sure you will to. As a matter of fact it is supposed to get up to 50 deg. tomorrow, so mine will be going to work with me. Happy riding, You'll love it. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Where are you from Mike ( city) ? My Bro goes as Big Mike on this site and we are from Michigan. I seen this post and thiught why does his post say he has a 99. :rotf:

Congratulation on your new bike......I never did get it either!!! Just picked up on that comment.......to me a bike is a bike is a bike.....all different......none bad......takes like about two hours to get used to a new one.......No I never did get it either.........on another thread they are trying to strangle a tire to get it mounted:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

The more I ride it the more I love it, spent an hr in church parking lot on all types of low speed manuevers, have a better idea of the heavy steering you guys are talking about, but I was perfectly comfortable at slow speeds. I am just amazed at how smooth and solid it feels, if you want to see pics, in 2nd gen classified section, its Jr's 06, Boy that black cherry sure does shine up nice. Thanks again for the comments. Cant wait for the Maint. Day and Skid In, and if my 17yr old daughter behaves herself while we are away, just mite make a few more meet-n-eats:whistling: Craig

I'm from Saginaw. Where are you guys from? I didn't realize so many people on this site were from Michigan, but I continue to see more every day. It is awesome!!!

I was born & raised in Detroit & just moved from Michigan a few years ago.

Had a horse farm in Saginaw county & 2 others in Shiawassee county.
