Nemo Posted July 13, 2014 #1 Posted July 13, 2014 Man, now another problem. GPS. After I enter or select a destination, it displays with the word "GO." I press "GO" and it starts OK. But just as soon as I connect it to a Power source, it goes blank except for the large name "Garmin." I must be doing something wrong or else missing a step. Can anyone help me? Also, I want to enter a new destination into the "Favorites" section, but as I do so, a flag comes up stating that it can't be found. I know that - this is to be an addition. Owen
djh3 Posted July 14, 2014 #2 Posted July 14, 2014 Not sure I totally understand. But try plugging the unit into power then turn on. then work your destination stuff. Also do you have more than one cord for power?
Bob Myers Posted July 14, 2014 #3 Posted July 14, 2014 even though the cables look the same to me, my Nuvi 350 will not operate on 12v from the cable intended for the Nuvi780. It would do what you said, just the "GARMIN" logo, nothing else, unplug it and it worked as it should The cable for the 350 went kaput so I tried the other, ended up buying a new cord for the 350 and it is all well again.
Guest tx2sturgis Posted July 14, 2014 #4 Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) If you see the GARMIN logo and a small icon under it, you are using a data cable, not a power cable. That cable might work as a power cable on a phone or a mp3 player, but the Garmin has non-standard wiring and some off-brand power cables wont work. Use the 'Garmin' branded cables and it will work properly. (if the Garmin cable has a PC style USB connector on the other end, it will work for BOTH power and data) Also, the Favorites folder wont contain anything if you havent saved anything. While on map display, to save a favorite, just touch and hold the arrow/vehicle and it will bring up a menu to save that location. It will provide you with an onscreen keyboard to be able to name it. djh3 Posted July 14, 2014 #5 Posted July 14, 2014 Bob, just bought a new power cable with mini USB on it. I have been using the multiple pin one that has the traffic thing on it and like 20 pins and goes in on bottom of GPS. (756t) Its a PIA to get out in the RAM holder and even worse now that I mad a high dollar sun screen for it. Cant get mitts in there to pinch the thing to get out. I got one off e-bay and it has a 90 deg mini usb on it. So far it works great. Never put much stock in the traffic update thing any who.
