Carbon_One Posted August 14, 2014 Author #26 Posted August 14, 2014 Larry, What model "P" clamp did you use and did you have to do any other mods or add-ons to get the tach to sit the way it is? I used a Kuryakyn 1" "P" clamp. As for the bracket I didn't use the one that came with the gauge but made my own out of a piece of 3/16" thick x 3/4" wide and about 3" long stainless steel. I bent a 90*angle on one end that positions the P clamp and then put a small twist in the main part to get the angle I wanted. I'll take a pic and post it here later today. Larry

XV1100SE Posted August 14, 2014 #28 Posted August 14, 2014 The bracket that came with the tach snapped on me when I tried to bend it. It may not even be "metal". I used the clamp that came with the tach and had a shop make a duplicate of the bracket but 1/4" longer and had them put a 90 degree bend in it. Cost me $50 to have stainless steel laser cut but they gave me two...used one...so if anyone wants one, let me know.
Carbon_One Posted August 15, 2014 Author #29 Posted August 15, 2014 Got busy and forgotten the pics but here they are. Better late than never . LOL
XV1100SE Posted September 4, 2014 #30 Posted September 4, 2014 In the dry...tach works great. Needle doesn't bounce at all, easy to read... Rode in the rain the other day and the inside of the glass went foggy. Cleared up sitting in the garage drying itself. I'll see what happens the next time I ride in the rain.
Carbon_One Posted September 5, 2014 Author #31 Posted September 5, 2014 Never had any problems in rain. Maybe some sealer would help. Larry
XV1100SE Posted September 5, 2014 #32 Posted September 5, 2014 I'll double check the screws at the back to make sure they are tight and see about sealing it. Overall a very good tach
