A good friend of mine bought a 86 Cavalcade. He seems pretty pleased with it, but the compressor for the air suspension is kaput, so the po has been pressurizing it to 40 psi, apparently through one fitting that feeds the front and rear.

Friend says the front end is bottoming out.

It doesn't seem right that the front and rear would run the same pressure, but I don't know anything about the 'cade.

I'm about 2 1/2 hrs away from him, so I can't easily tear into it to figure it out.

I told him my guess would be that he either needs new springs or more air pressure, and that I'd think the front and rear shocks should have separate fittings to pressurize.

He's looking to me for answers, and I got nuthin'.

Anybody know a good Cavalvade forum?

Just tryin' to help out a buddy.

Thanks:)

If you go on Delphi forums for the Suzuki Madura, the Moderator on there is a guy named Rob, he goes by Madehray or something like that. He is VERY sharp on the Cades and Maduras and is always willing to help. There are some very good forums for the cades, before your friend puts too many miles on that bike make sure you check the secondary gear oil. It is separate from engine oil and doesnt get checked. If not maintained the secondary can lock up with fatal consequences.

Good Luck, Craig

Wish I were home on my laptop,, hard typing on this tab..

Craigs is right on, the cades had a failure problem with the forward bevel gear. There is a plug in the end of the gear shaft that falls out and t loses lube. There have been several solutions tried, rom jb weld to staking the original plug. The ONLY guarenteed solution is using an aftermarket plug, still being produced as far as I know..

The cade wasnt around long enough for susuki to fix the problem..

only other downfall with them or the madura line that I have found thru the years is parts rarity..

His front springs are probably sacked, that causes the bottoming, usually not air pressure related..
