bart1963 Posted July 6, 2014 #1 Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) My 89 VR had just had the clutch replace this spring. After getting it back on the road a week, I noticed that after ~1-2 hrs of solid running, the clutch starts to lose pressure and then almost disappears completely. This is after some moderate city, stop and go traffic and on a 85+ deg day. After getting to my destination, and after letting it set and cool for about an hour, the clutch pressure started to return. Letting it sit overnite almost returned it to normal. Fluid level in the master cylinder has always been at the full line. Any thoughts? Thanks, Brett Edited July 6, 2014 by bart1963
Squeeze Posted July 6, 2014 #2 Posted July 6, 2014 Sounds like you need to replace the Clutch Fluid and bleed the Clutch very good after that.
Prairiehammer Posted July 6, 2014 #3 Posted July 6, 2014 It sounds like you need to bleed the hydraulic clutch actuating system. If the hydraulic fluid becomes contaminated, usually with absorbed water, the heat acts to vaporize the water in the fluid, resulting in the failure of the clutch to disengage. Flush your clutch hydraulics and bleed.
