I have read and re-read the many posts regarding audio connectivity. Unfortunately, electronics is my weak suit and much of what has been posted is Greek to me. So I'm asking for basic guidance in getting my iPhone (with music loaded on it) and/or my Sirius satellite radio connected through my bluetooth headsets. Here's what I have:

- 2007 Venture with cassette still in it

- Scala Rider Q2 MultiSet bluetooth headsets

- Garmin Nuvi 1490T GPS (does not have "audio in" jack)

- Sirius satellite radio (has "audio in" jack)

- iPhone 4S

I have paired the iPhone to the headsets and can communicate fine via bluetooth if I'm making or receiving a phone call, neither of which is critical to me but it does work fine. I cannot play my iPhone music (iTunes) via bluetooth. My satellite radio works great through the external bike speakers but doesn't appear as though I can connect to my headsets via bluetooth. Helmet to helmet headsets work fine via bluetooth. Doesn't matter about the CB as I never use it anyway.

I'm hearing impaired and have to ride without my hearing aids so the external speakers on the bike are pretty much useless. I'm trying to either get music from my satellite radio and/or music from my iPhone through my headsets. Will a Buddy Rich cable solve the problem? Do I need an iSimple from Yamaha? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

You will probably get a boatload of comments and answers...but I will focus on exactly what you asked at the end of your post:

I'm trying to either get music from my satellite radio and/or music from my iPhone through my headsets.

To do this over bluetooth you need a bluetooth streaming adapter. The built-in bluetooth on the iphone has its limits. You will most likely need an A2DP bluetooth unit to bring music to those headsets...that is...IF they are also A2DP compatible...look for that spec on the headsets you have.

I have not used one of these so I cant give a specific recommendation.

Here are a few on amazon to point you in the right direction:

Edit: I found this sentence on the cardosystems website: "Entertainment features now include wireless A2DP stereo music or MP3 player connection via cable as well as built-in FM radio with RDS." The A2DP spec for that headset means that it should support stereo music on bluetooth via the A2DP profile. Of course, a single headset will not provide stereo to your ears...but it will combine the stereo channels (from the XM or the iphone music player) sent via A2DP into a single ear.

So...one of these might work for you...or it might not.

The basic procedure would be to pair the streaming adapter to your headset, then plug the streaming adapter into the audio output jack of the XM or iphone. I also included a cassette version just in case someone wants to stream audio to the bike stereo instead of the bluetooth headsets.

Good luck.

The Buddy Rich cable and similar cables from other suppliers are supposed to allow you to use your blue tooth thru a GPS and your phone to talk on the phone over the OEM intercom system. Being as you have BT headsets it would do nothing for you.

I bought a UClear system (Bluetooth) to communicate with my passenger (works pretty good) and I have been researching how to get my bike's audio to play in the UClear speakers. I already have a cassette adapter to plug in MPG player/iPod/GPS.

It seems like I should be able to adapt a Bluetooth transmitter to the bike's headset plug and transmit to the UClear system. This will only require a Din-to-mini adapter. Only the CB microphone input will be disconnected.

I will let the folks know how it turns out . . . :detective:

Update:

I ordered and received a bluetooth transmitter to my UClear intercom as-advertised. However, I discovered that bluetooth devices can only link to one device at a time. It will not link to her helmet and my helmet at the same time. This means that I will need to build a "Y" connector for the headphone on my VR and patch two (2) different bluetooth transmitters; one for me and one for her. More info to come . . .

I'd be interested in knowing how it works...keep up posted.
