CFox0045 Posted June 29, 2014 #1 Posted June 29, 2014 Hey all, Got a question that I could not find by doing some searches. Went and looked at a 1987 Venture Royale that was for sale today. The guy that was selling it could not start it using the start switch. Said that the starter solenoid was bad. But did get the bike running by pushing it off. What could be the issue with the bike that could cause this problem. He did not really seem to know that much about the bike, but said he had the starter and stator replaced before this issue. Thanks, Chris.
Yammer Dan Posted June 29, 2014 #2 Posted June 29, 2014 Bypass solenoid and see if it cranks. Just arc it over from input post to output. Will spark a little but should crank if it is bad solenoid.
Razorback Posted June 29, 2014 #3 Posted June 29, 2014 Starter and stator replaced? Nice. That will save a lot of labor down the road. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Neil86 Posted June 29, 2014 #4 Posted June 29, 2014 May be an issue with the starter interlock circuit too...good idea to jumper the solenoid to prove out the starter/starter clutch is functional.
