Kirby Posted June 28, 2014 #1 Posted June 28, 2014 Has anyone tried running an RSV without the clear lower air deflectors attached to the bottom of the fairing as well as the air deflectors that are attached to the front forks? Wondering if it would be beneficial in the summer months. You thoughts???????
KeithR Posted June 28, 2014 #2 Posted June 28, 2014 I removed the lower fork deflectors when on holidays one year...lots more air getting at ya. I put them back on....we don't get the temps you southern guys get so was a tad cool and wet in the rain Keith

Kirby Posted June 28, 2014 Author #4 Posted June 28, 2014 Will the Baker wings work with the Kuryakin crash bar mounted pegs????
CaptainJoe Posted June 29, 2014 #5 Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) Will the Baker wings work with the Kuryakin crash bar mounted pegs???? I've got the Kuryakin crash bar mounted pegs as well. the bolts long enough to slip the air wings onto it! Will send a pic tomorrow morning... Edited June 29, 2014 by CaptainJoe walked my lazy butt down to garage and took a pic...
ragtop69gs Posted June 29, 2014 #6 Posted June 29, 2014 That pic isn't very helpful, bad angle & too dark. Nice try though.
Kirby Posted June 29, 2014 Author #7 Posted June 29, 2014 I removed the lower fork deflectors when on holidays one year...lots more air getting at ya. I put them back on....we don't get the temps you southern guys get so was a tad cool and wet in the rain Keith Yea, if if weren't for the rain, I'd take them off, but I ride daily and there's always a chance of a thunderstorm popping up. Most of the time the shields keep me dry enough not to have to put on the rainsuit.
CaptainJoe Posted June 29, 2014 #8 Posted June 29, 2014 You guys are hard to please, sheese! Here's better pics first shows mounting area second full open third full closed Can't say enough about how these things control air... warm in the winter, cool in the summer(without buffeting)
midnightventure Posted June 29, 2014 #9 Posted June 29, 2014 I had somebody pull out in front of me while turning left one day. I applied the front brake so hard that the forks went down and broke one clear one off on something. I removed the other so it would look balanced. I have never noticed the difference.
FuzzyRSTD Posted June 29, 2014 #10 Posted June 29, 2014 Best buy on the Baker Air Wings and a link please ? I am like Ragtop, the post are useless information with out a link and good photos. I will go searching for them for now.
FuzzyRSTD Posted June 29, 2014 #11 Posted June 29, 2014 OK, I found them here is the link to another post about them with good information. From what I see, I will go with the Yamaha brand. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20800
djh3 Posted June 29, 2014 #12 Posted June 29, 2014 Well link in that post for Yami parts you still had to search. So I think this is the real place. for them. They look to only mount at bottom. Running thru a rain shower unless its a frog choker my knees are the only thing that gets soaked. I dont see a way to fix that. Its just what gets past the lowers on the fairing and the fork wings.
CaptainJoe Posted June 29, 2014 #13 Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) Kirby, I suggest you ride a bike that has each installed. Experience IS the best teacher... grasshopper... From what others have said, yamaha lowers do not put air up into the chest area. The bakers definitely do. http://www.bakerbuilt.com/bbairwings/page48aa.html Easily Adjusted to Direct Cooler Air to Rider and Co-Rider in Hot Weather. Does an Impressive Job of Blowing Away Engine Heat in Hot Weather. Keeps You Warmer and Dryer in Cold and Wet Weather by Deflecting Cold Air Flow Away from Rider and Co-Rider. Kirby Posted June 29, 2014 Author #14 Posted June 29, 2014 Dion, will these work with the Kury pegs I was talking about earlier???
djh3 Posted June 29, 2014 #15 Posted June 29, 2014 Have no idea. Just when I went to the thread link, I had to read like 9 posts before got to one actually showing where to find them. So I thought I would clean the link up. Honestly I cant see how the Yami ones even mount up. Funny though, all the pics I found on a yahoo searc for the Bakers almost everyone of them had the Kuryakyn foot pegs. LOL
Sylvester Posted June 29, 2014 #16 Posted June 29, 2014 My Yamaha deflectors mount to the front finned side cover with a longer bolt. Work just fine. Mine are chromed billet (I believe). They were given to me by a friend who sold his RSV.
Kirby Posted June 29, 2014 Author #17 Posted June 29, 2014 Thanks, ya'll been a big help. Looks like I gotta do some more research.
