Finally got the new to me Venture to where it will start and run. Clutch is working. Brakes on front. Still got rear brakes and a lot of plastic to go.But a lot of moisture coming out of the breather tube. Had it running without box on and a LOT of moisture coming out of there. So heavy it throws it in drops when you rev it. Don't know. That black cloud just don't want to go away. Don't want to say it.

HEAD GASKET?? Change engines??"Blue Beast" starting to look like my best option.

Don't get discouraged Dan I know you'll get her up and running. You have the tools, you have the spare parts, she'll be better oh wait that's the bionic man or woman stuff. Ok anyway you'll have her up and running I'm sure.

Engine from the "Blue Beast" needs 2nd Gear. I'm thinking blown head gasket. But why?? This thing had sat for a few yrs hard to tell how many. Would it leak and maybe seal itself after it ran for a while? Getting some pretty big drops of water out of there.

You got antifreeze in it ? Should be antifreeze coming out and you should have to put some back in. Should also smell like antifreeze if its a blown head gasket

Dan when the mechanic first fired up my 84 after 13 years the black smoke was so thick hard to see. I'm sure lots of moisture in motor as well. I would get it road ready and blow the carbon out and see. I got an 89 engine over here with only 15K needing something to do.

If it has sat for a while, I would put some Rislone in the oil and then run it some, let it sit and then run it some more. Rislone loosens up carbon and other sludge and so cleans things up real good, shouldn't hurt the clutch but will thin the oil so you can't run it steady. It works great if you need to clean the insides. You can use Seafoam as well.

take and pull the plugs out, and while at it do a compression test on it, could be a head gasket and a worn intake valve

be nice if you had a vacume gauge and just slip it onto a intake port and just compare the vacume on the cylynders

It is antifreeze. Time to think a little. Looks like a lot of work before I hit the road. I don't know which direction to go. Think maybe he left it sit without antifreeze. I added a little (about 1/2 Qt.) after I got it and tried to get it started. No way to check it without running but temps didn't get below 10 degrees here this year I don't think. Was engine blown when he put it in garage? Lot of plastic busted and that 22k looks more like 122k. I was just in a hurry for a bike. But it did look good.

Where did I put that 750???

Dan, mostly this are the Sealings of the Breather Casing underneath the Carbs.

There are two special O-Rings which might need Replacement.

And anti-freeze will smoke white like crazy if it gets into the cylinder. You might try a shot of Sea Foam in the engine oil to loosen up those rings and scrappers. You might also just have a lot of condensation in the crank. Have you changed the oil and filter yet???

What does the oil look like? Have you changed it? Is it loosing coolant and not dripping on the ground? Does it run on all cylinders? will it start easily?

If it starts fine and oil is full and ok coolant full . RUN it with seafoam in the oil and in the gas . Have you drained the gas,,,,,, bad gas can cause smoking and lots of problems.. May have to suck out old and put in fresh with Seafoam. All the above ideas are good except getting a 2nd gen.... LOL.Very few blown head gaskets on this motor!

Put the air box back on and close it up,, they dont run well without all the plumbing in place..

Let us know

good luck

Be a couple days before I get back to it again. Work getting in the way. I'm pretty sure it is antifreeze and its coming out of the breather tube. Maybe Squeeze has something there. I'm going to go ahead and get it in shape to take a test run and see what happens. It was low on antifreeze when I got it and I didn't think much of it. If I loose antifreeze when I run it Squeeze are you saying it could be those gaskets? Can't tell much from book.

Yes Dan,

this Breather Casing has everything in it. Hot Air Vent from inside the Casing, Coolant and Oil. If there any Leak on a Motor, be it Coolant in Oil, Oil in Coolant or a Lot of a Fluid out of the Breather Tube, i'd suspect this Assembly in first Place.

And yes, there's not so much to see by the Book. I don't know why they designed it the Way it is, but it it's like it is.

I will take a look in there when I get a chance. Got the numbers for the gaskets. That sounds like it could be and a easy fix?? Doesn't look very hard to get in there.
