Ron and I have been waiting this week to take a ride to Somewhere. I told him that all I wanted this year for our 42 anniversary was to take an all day ride to somewhere. Now we have had our RSV for a long time and we probably have ridden everywhere in this area one time or other.

So coming up with a new destination is not always real easy.

We usually ride in Indiana on the weekends. I suggested somewhere in Ky, or somewhere east of Cincinnati. Ron said he would look at the map and decide where we could ride. So now I am waiting to find out where somewhere is.

I think the best times that we have had on a day ride is to just wind up somewhere, especially if we got lost by accident and had no where to go or be for no particular reason. So maybe I really do not want to go somewhere after all. We could just go on the bike and wind up no where. That could be much more fun than actually planning a trip to somewhere. I actually find it fun to get lost and figure out where we are. No fair using a GPS. I have wanted to throw that thing in the lake many times. It actually thinks we want to get to places the fastest way. How stupid is that?

What do you think? I will post photos after the ride to no where.

That was interesting Bob. We are still thinking however. Ron just got up so things should be moving along shortly. I guess it is still a mystery. Is there a Mystery, KY?

You never know when you are looking for no where to go.

Oh my gosh, not stupid at all imho. You just described my ride style mama! Been doing it for years, one of my kids favorite quote of mine that she likes to toss back at me is,, GPS stands for Go Park Somewhere cause we, re riding doesnt daddy LOL..

mama, another of my favorite touring games is flippin the coin at all intersections, tails right, heads left at t intersections.. I have always said, the fun dont really begin till ur lost,, seems like thats always when we find the most intetesting sites and meet the coolest people! Another point, I hate maps, I LOVE stopping and asking directions from locals all over the country,, even being weeks out and thousands of miles from home, no map is best,, as long as your not in a hurry.. the enrichment in our lives from allowing others to assist is usually priceless!

Personally,, I commend you yamamama for your ideas and thoughts on the subject! Bythe way, I happen to know the red river gorge area would be where I would head if I lived in cinci and wanted to escape for a breather.. biker could get lost in there, we did,, and have a riot,, we did.. found a little town, asked directions and ended up exploring a cave known only to a few locals,, talk about fun!

if you decide to go, I suggest you make a new thread asking BEN ROLLINS for thoughts on it. He lives down yonder, is a great guy and a dear friend thanks to VR.. tell him ol puc sent ya,,,,,, take that back,,,, not sure that the last info imshared with him on his bike was accurate LOL. maybe just mention ya heard he knew bout the red river gorge...

whereever ya go, ride safe and have fun,, thats what its all about

ride ur ride

puc

PS,, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY YOU TWO!

Thanks for all the suggestions. We wound up going to Rabbit Hash, Ky. Stayed there for a while and then took some really awesome roads back to Florence, Ky and ate dinner at Golden Corral. We rode from there to Bromley and then home. We were only gone for 8 hours because of our dog being a lone. He cannot seem to get his food out of the fridge for some odd reason.

Jeez, there was a lot of people there for a Wednesday. If you find yourself with no where to ride again, come on down, i lead you through Red River Gorge area

Linda and I took one of those dodge-the-rain rides. We had a lot of spotty rain in just about every direction and we took off in the most clear direction. When we came to a point that looked like rain ahead, we made a choice again on which way looked best. All together, we probably put about 180 miles on the bike and when we came in, I pulled up weatherspark, which has a great map, and where we were just hours ago was raining hard. Sometimes, the dodge-the-rain rides are the best if you don't have a destination, as the weather kind of dictates the direction.

I had to post again, after leaving our daughter's home in Bright, Indiana Sunday around 7PM, we headed home. I told Moped to go the long way. Well he did. We rode down a road we actually had never been on before. Hard to believe, because I had thought we had ridden on every road there was. However, neither one of us really knew where we were. We just kept riding down this wonderful road. It had twists and turns and went through all this farm country. No cars were going by, just the sound of our bike and the new tunes Ron recorded on our Ipod nano. It was so great. We finally wound up on a road we knew and then we realized we had made one really big circle and wound up back where we had basically started. It was great however. Love riding on roads never ridden before. attachment.php?attachmentid=85418&stc=1&d=1404209559
