speakerfritz Posted June 23, 2014 #1 Posted June 23, 2014 So I replaced my inlet covers and filter and while doing that saw a hose to each intake that ran thru a bracket and ended near the intake opening buy not actually connected to the air box. so this is obviously a case breather hose to return unburnt fuel back into the intake. You would think yamaha would have put a hose fitting on the ari box so that this hose can direclty attach?
RedRider Posted June 23, 2014 #2 Posted June 23, 2014 There is a small ring bracket in the air filter box to hold the end of the hose. No reason to make an attachment nipple for the hose as that would be a small diameter fitting. More liable to plug up than an open hose. Works fine as is. And, you are right. It is the crankcase breather hose. RR
ACE50 Posted June 23, 2014 #3 Posted June 23, 2014 If its a gen 2, those are the carb bowl vent lines. They just sit there, supposedly a dead air space.

speakerfritz Posted June 23, 2014 Author #5 Posted June 23, 2014 If its a gen 2, those are the carb bowl vent lines. They just sit there, supposedly a dead air space. makes it more interesting...at least its not vented to the exhuast manifold
V7Goose Posted June 24, 2014 #6 Posted June 24, 2014 Yes, those are the carb vents/overflow lines, and their proper routing is important on a constant velocity carburetor - they must not terminate anywhere that has abruptly changing air pressure, such as wind or the air-stream at speed. That is why they are stuck up there behind the lower cowlings. Goose
Kirby Posted June 24, 2014 #7 Posted June 24, 2014 Thanks for clarifying this Goose. I've often wondered why they were run all the way up front behind the lowers.
