DblTrbl Posted June 23, 2014 #1 Posted June 23, 2014 Thanks for the tips on using Dielectric grease to fix my Venture audio problems. Wow, I split the fairing and pulled each connection apart, shot with contact cleaner and dried them....then just a little dielectric grease on the female ends....reconnected wires and turned on the bike to test......EVERYTHING worked to perfection!!! I have one more question about the IC.....Both myself and the passenger can talk without having to push the talk buttons...........is that normal? Or is the talk button only for CB useage? Thanks again!!
Hummingbird Posted June 23, 2014 #2 Posted June 23, 2014 talk button is for cb - ic is voice activated and adjustable to sensitivity. You should have a wind sock on your mike or you'll go banannas with wind noise
Freebird Posted June 23, 2014 #3 Posted June 23, 2014 Small clarification, IC is not actually voice actuated. It is simply always on. That is why some of us installed the Mic Mutes.
DblTrbl Posted June 23, 2014 Author #4 Posted June 23, 2014 (edited) I keep finding out more and more to spend $$...LOL Is a Mic Mute an "add on"? I was told by the service manager at a shop that the only comm sets that work flawlesly with the RSV is the Yamaha sets which cost over $200 EACH. I bought IMC Motorcom HS-X140P stereo headset ($98 each) and they seem to be working fine...I just need to fine tune the volume control. These can be warn without helmet or with cruizer style or half helmets. Anyone have others that could be recommended? Edited June 23, 2014 by DblTrbl
Freebird Posted June 23, 2014 #5 Posted June 23, 2014 Yea, your Yamaha service manager is full of crap. I think that the Yamaha sets are simply J&Ms that are branded for Yamaha. Nothing special about them at all except the high price. Yes, the Mic Mute is an add on product that allows you to toggle the microphones on and off from the rider or passenger push to talk switch. Great product. Here is the website. http://mic-mutes.com
djh3 Posted June 23, 2014 #6 Posted June 23, 2014 Yes they are. They also have to be "wired into" the intercom. They run about $140 last I saw. I solved my "whoosh" in ears byt installing push to talk cut off switches. Push button its on and stays on. Push again it turn off. They were like $35 a piece.
DblTrbl Posted June 23, 2014 Author #7 Posted June 23, 2014 thanks for confirming that I was on the correct site. will be ordering in about 5 min...
Stache Posted June 23, 2014 #8 Posted June 23, 2014 I put an isimple in the left saddlebag with an iPod attached for personal music selection , sena sm10 on the bike with the yamaha attachment cable a pair of smh10's on the helmets: advantages All the stereo controls work as before. Sm10 streams simultaneously to both helmets, so we share music Bluetooth intercom. My phone connects to my headset Her phone connects to her headset Copilot GPS app on my phone works through phone link. No headset cables flapping in the wind. Disadvantages: A little pricy to get going but not much more than 2 Yamaha headsets and it appears to work flawlessly CB radio unavailable: don't care - I've never used it. Side effect: all the links work whether my wife in on my back seat or her own front seat as long as we're within about 1km. Really liking this lash up.
