YamaDuck Posted June 18, 2014 #1 Posted June 18, 2014 Sorry I have so many questions but if you don't know you don't know. After a day trying to take one ..... ...... ... ..... Shifter seal out ( sorry for the dots I don't normally use that type of language) I found a round bowl shaped piece of metal inside the shifter seal. I was not expecting it since it is not shown in the parts list or shown in the parts diagram. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/2000/VENTURE+MM+LIMITED+EDITION+-+XVZ13TFSM/SHIFT+SHAFT/parts.html My new seal does not have this metal bowl in it. (part number 9 in the parts list). Did Yamaha change the part or does the new seal go on top the the metal bowl and then insert into the hole?
YamaDuck Posted June 19, 2014 Author #2 Posted June 19, 2014 Never mind. The old seal came out in 6 million little pieces which left the metal cup which after examining the one I destroyed trying to hammer it in on top of the metal bowl I see that the metal bowl is inclosed in the seal. Duh:doh:
YamaDuck Posted June 19, 2014 Author #4 Posted June 19, 2014 Are we having a tough day YamaDuck??? :rotf: You had better believe it! Can't find the corroded connection on me 01 and took me all day to get that shifter seal out and ruin the new one on my MM. If I had my truck I would take both these to the dealer and say "FIX THESE THING!
Bubber Posted June 19, 2014 #5 Posted June 19, 2014 Remember "loose lips sink ships" No that's not it "slow and steady gets the job ready" (I think I just made that up). Ya that's it! That's the ticket. Take a break and start up again a little later. Cooler heads will prevail. Best of Luck Mr. Yamaduck  Steve aka Bubber
YamaDuck Posted June 19, 2014 Author #6 Posted June 19, 2014 Thanks Bubber. I will be rested and since I now have ALL the seal out I will be ready when the new seal arrives. Harry
Bubber Posted June 19, 2014 #7 Posted June 19, 2014 PS: did you really ride through all those state? Did you take a pee in each state? Was it your bike or borrowed? Was it off the trailer? Do you have witnesses? Did you document your ride, pea, ride at least 100 miles in each state? Rules are rules. State Marking Police we have another violator!
YamaDuck Posted June 19, 2014 Author #8 Posted June 19, 2014 PS: did you really ride through all those state? Yes I did. Did you take a pee in each state? No pee brake in ND or Neb but yes in all the other states. Was it your bike or borrowed? My bike. Was it off the trailer? Of course it was off the trailer. It stays off the trailer unless it is broke down and I can't ride it to the shop. Do you have witnesses? I have witnesses except for ND, Mn, UP & LP of Mich., OH., and Ind. Did you document your ride, pea, ride at least 100 miles in each state? No I did not document anything and I did not ride 100 miles in ND or Neb. Rules are rules. The only rule I have is to ride in each state. The main witnesses are my friends James and Tut who shared part of my 2009 ride. James and I rode (Yamaha odometer) 11,155 miles in 32 days. I hope to fill in some more southern states in Aug. State Marking Police we have another violator! Providing I get one of these two bikes fixed
