I have the Joe Rocket in silver. Definately much more comfortable in the heat.

However, I dont care for the back protection, it tends to ride up and poke me in the neck, the wrist cuffs could be redesigned. And my waterproof liner is coming apart at the shoulder.

Just got the email stating my order has been shipped...That is fast since I did not order it until yesterday afternoon.

On the cooling vest, the one that I have does last about 4-5 hours in 80 degree weather, only about 1 1/2 hours in the 90's. But is about the time I have to refuel any way. Just go into the rest room and let the vest soak and you are good to go. Also, I wear this vest over a T shirt and the T shirt doesn't really get wet just barely damp. :2143:

Thanks to all.....I learned something on this post......I have ordered several of the cool vests and a couple hard hat liners that can be used in the helmet also. Just another addition to riding apparel and being equipped.....I really was not aware this kind of vest was available....just used a wet T-shirt...

Yes the complaint of these textile style jackets not holding up so well.....I will have to agree...some do better than others....but all of them do need maintenance........the liners as stated do come undone.....I just go by the flea market and have the fellow sew it with heavy thread......the velcro fasteners seem to wear with time and not want to hold well.....those with the arm straps to take up the slack in the arms.....the nylon straps always tend to fray........they are not like the lifetime leather jacket, you just wear and wear......and throw in the corner.......as for design they all have something I like and do not like....none of them seem to have it all in one.......but all in all these textiles jackets are great....summer mesh.....waterproof liner in some......and those with the insulated liners for winter put a leather jacket to shame as far as comfort and staying warm.

They are the new technology.....and do seem to work well.....and most can be thrown in the washing machine........

Well just ordered the Joe Rocket 4.0 from New Enough for $89. What a deal.:dancefool:

I'm with you DD, ordered the 4.0, a Mil Spec riding vest and riding pants. Great prices and QUICK. Free shipping and the package was on my doorstep within 72hrs. Wish all vendors were that efficient.

On the cool vests. A friend gave us the first ones they bought, they do not last as long because they have some sort of fabric not the crystals. They last about 1 1/2hrs. The replacements they got with the crystals are good for most of the day. We made neck scarves with the crystals that "Gadget" bought in bulk for cheap. We have large ziplock baggies that we keep the cool vests in and put the vests in at every stop to keep them wet. We like them a lot and we ride in the heat all summer long. The mesh jackets and cool vest are a great combo. Rod

I have the neck scarf with the crystals. When it is dry it is as flat as paper but when you let it soak, it swells up and is very soft. Lasts for several hours and I also keep them in a ziplock bag until they are needed.:2132:
