RockinRobin Posted June 15, 2014 Author #6 Posted June 15, 2014 Enjoy the trip, looks like beautiful weather thru Pa today! Craig this is steamer on robins tablet. Maybe where you are! Weather sucked all the way through pa till we crossed over into md. Cold and some light rain the whole way. Wv and va has great weather. We are in Harrisburg va for the night. Crossed over from wv on the 33 through the GW national forrest up over the mountains, what a ride! I will try to down load video when we get home. Really put the old girl through her paces today. . . .and the trike did pretty well also. we did just under 500 miles and 12 hours today. Tomarrow we are going to jump on the skyline drive to the brp south. Thats it for tonight.
BIG TOM Posted June 15, 2014 #8 Posted June 15, 2014 You guys have a great time...Enjoy your trip . you deserve it..cause when you get back I'm gonna work your tail off at the rally.....NAW........ just kidding..have fun:fatsmiley:
steamer Posted June 15, 2014 #11 Posted June 15, 2014 We are in Wytheville VA. for the night. Started out At 7am from Harrisonburg VA. Not Harrisburg as I said last night. Robin keeps reminding me I GOT IT WRONG! Rode to Waynesboro VA. picked up the BRP at the north end and rode it to Roanoke VA. We had great weather, the road was in pretty good shape for most of the ride, some ruff spots, but all in all a nice ride. With stops for sightseeing and lunch, it took us 5 hours to ride 115 miles. Let me tell you, you get one heck of a work out riding the twisty's on a trike. we decided to get off the BRP and take the 81 to Wytheville to see if we can hook up with The Tooch and friend's who is coming in from Canada to ride the Dragon this week. Tomorrow we head over to Maggie Valley where we have a room reserved for 3 days. We will ride the lower section of the BRP on the way back north. Oh, all most forgot, someone forgot to charge the battery for the camera and it wasn't me. Still got some video with the gopro.
Mike G in SC Posted June 15, 2014 #12 Posted June 15, 2014 The best part of the BRP is from Asheville to Cherokee. That is where it is constant vistas,,,, without all those trees in the way. Might enjoy a lunch at the Pisgah Inn, about 15 miles below Asheville if the timing works. If not, get a rich desert and coffee and enjoy the view.
RockinRobin Posted June 15, 2014 Author #13 Posted June 15, 2014 Yes I forgot to charge the camers battery. But everything else was charged up. I did get some pictures which will get posted later...
cecdoo Posted June 16, 2014 #14 Posted June 16, 2014 Yep The Pisgah Inn is a great place to have lunch or a snack, the Biltmore is also something to see while you are in the area. Chimney Rock is pretty cool too! Hook up with Rooster he will show you the sites. Craig
steamer Posted June 16, 2014 #15 Posted June 16, 2014 "The Tooch" and his Canadian friend's showed up here in Wytheville about 6pm. Had a chance to talk a while. They will be heading to the Dragon from the west side on Tuesday, we are riding it from the east side. Hope to see them on the road.
The Tooch Posted June 16, 2014 #17 Posted June 16, 2014 "The Tooch" and his Canadian friend's showed up here in Wytheville about 6pm. Had a chance to talk a while. They will be heading to the Dragon from the west side on Tuesday, we are riding it from the east side. Hope to see them on the road. RockinRobin & Steamer surprised me as I was just getting off my bike in the Motel parking lot. I was hot and tired after a long day in the saddle and I was not really with it. I have to apologize for not being a little more quick to recognize who they were. It was great to meet them and see their trike. I had been trying to decide if I was going to the WNY rally, RockinRobin may have talked me into it. I'll try to get photo's tomorrow to post. This is such a great site when members go out of there way to track you down.
RockinRobin Posted June 17, 2014 Author #18 Posted June 17, 2014 Made it to maggie valley yesterday. Rode part off the brp on our way here. Today we conquered the tail. Also rode the skyway. All told, about 250 miles. We had a great day. Now dinner, then the pool.
steamer Posted June 18, 2014 #20 Posted June 18, 2014 pulled into Deals Gap this morning and who do we find there? Yep, The Tooch an his group were there. I think we seen them again on the Cherohala skyway. He was going in the opposite direction. also seen two RSV's riding together on the skyway, only got a quick look as they went by. We also rode the Nantahala Gorge by mistake, made a wrong turn on the way back from the Dragon. The road here will wear you out, I don't think there is a straight road anywhere in the part of NC. need to figure out what we are doing tomorrow.
bongobobny Posted June 18, 2014 #21 Posted June 18, 2014 Hehehehehehe!!! Enjoy the ride Steamer!! Keep that R&R in line the best you can!

I waved like crazy when I saw you going by the other way and couldn't believe we would cross paths 3 times doing the opposite routes but coming at it from different directions. What are the odds? Got to buy a lottery ticket when I get back home! You guys have a great and safe trip the rest of the way. Hope to see you in August. And we have had a blast so far on our trip heading out to Nashville tomorrow. Get those pictures you took posted!!!

steamer Posted June 20, 2014 #24 Posted June 20, 2014 Well now the journey must come to an end. Starting the trip home. Got caught in a thunderstorm in Tenn and now we are sitting in a hotel till tomorrow. The first storm we waited out in a car wash stall. we were lucky to be riding into a small town just as it was about to hit. then a little later on, we were running north on the 81 with the radio on and they posted a storm warning for the 81 corridor north of the tn/va line so we pulled off at the next exit and got us a room for the night.
