I have ordered all of the parts to do the Marshal Mod on my 2nd gen and am wondering if I will need to completely remove the trunk to plug the new cable into the CB unit.:confused24:

I know I will need to remove seats, gas tank and split fairing to run the new AM/FM cable, but trying to avoid having to completely remove trunk.

Thanks

I had read it a number of times but obviously missed the following:

On the CB cable, you will need the Motorola plug on one end and a PL259 plug which screws into the base of the Antenna Mount ... This cable is about 18" long and
easy to install once you get the trunk loosened up to a point where you can lift it up and get to the CB.
The CB lives under the trunk in a plastic box which is held together with two rubber straps .. Just loosen the straps and the top of the box comes right off. Disconnect the antenna cable from the radio, run the new cable in and plug it up ... Easy to accomplish.

So I do not have to completely remove it. My appologies for bothering folks with a question when it was there all along.:confused07:

You MAY not actually have to even unbolt it. The last time I did it, I just gently pulled on the cable where it goes through the rubber grommet into the black box and it slipped out. I was just able to plug the new adapter cable into the motorola plug and push it back in.
