BlueSky Posted June 11, 2014 #2 Posted June 11, 2014 Nah, That bike has been for sale for a long time.
dacheedah Posted June 11, 2014 #3 Posted June 11, 2014 How different is the motor? will the fuel injection adapt over??
Wade 2000 Posted June 11, 2014 #4 Posted June 11, 2014 How different is the motor? will the fuel injection adapt over?? The 1300cc motor in the FJR is an inline 4cyl it puts out in the neighborhood of 145hp. My brother has one and I have riden it. The FJR is a great ride, very sporty but a very comfortable seat with an upright sitting position, power windshield, the new one has cruise control and electronic suspension adjustment. I would consider one strongly when I buy
Venturous Randy Posted June 11, 2014 #5 Posted June 11, 2014 (edited) Reminds me a lot of a early 1st gen without the V-4. I still think that Yamaha has/had more intentions for the V-4 in the V-Max than just the V-Max. That engine detuned would make a great engine for Venture for many years to come. They spent a lot of money developing that engine and you know it would be so unstressed at about 130hp in a new Venture. RandyA Edited June 11, 2014 by Venturous Randy
djh3 Posted June 11, 2014 #6 Posted June 11, 2014 NOPE this is it. They will just fall in line with everybody else.

IronMike Posted June 11, 2014 #9 Posted June 11, 2014 The Strats BURN through tires, It would not make a complete tour without a tire change. Lot of guys going darkside on that one. Don't see a tour pack on either.

Don't see a tour pack on either. You got that right. I have a strat in my collection and it eats tires, best I can do on any rear is 6000 miles and the cords are showing, front maybe 10,000.
ragtop69gs Posted June 11, 2014 #11 Posted June 11, 2014 The FJR is a nice bike but for us height challenged riders the seat height is a deal breaker. I have no opinion on the Strat, I've never ridden one.
texasrices Posted June 11, 2014 #12 Posted June 11, 2014 Why does the Strat burn through tires so bad? What makes it so different?
midnightrider1300 Posted June 11, 2014 #13 Posted June 11, 2014 I work at a Yamaha dealer, a factory rep came the other day and promised we'd see MAJOR changes in the bike lineup over the next 5 years... but we have heard this before..I guess we still are the cubs of motorcycles... wait till next year

djh3 Posted June 12, 2014 #15 Posted June 12, 2014 Its made in Japan but I dont think anything over about 400cc is sold there. At least the last time I was over there in the early 90's I dont think they could produce and sell anything over about 400cc. You would occasionally see a HD, but say and FJR or similar type I dont recall seeing any.
Ace Posted June 12, 2014 #16 Posted June 12, 2014 Why does the Strat burn through tires so bad? What makes it so different? Really not sure. Wheels are oddball sizes and very few companies make tires that fit. Only can get radials in the sizes that are needed and are kind of anemic on tread depth right from new.
