YamaDuck Posted June 6, 2014 #1 Posted June 6, 2014 Does the Venture require DOT 3 or DOT 4 for the clutch reservoir? I know the to DOT's are interchangeable but I don't know what the difference in the two are. I have seen both used in my search but I want to make sure I put the right DOT back in. My clutch reservoir is low and I need to add some fluid. Thanks
MiCarl Posted June 6, 2014 #4 Posted June 6, 2014 Yamaha calls for DOT4. The difference is DOT4 has a higher boiling point, not an issue in the clutch. Still, why have 2 open cans.

I have a bottle of Valvoline Syn. Dot 3 and Dot 4. I am using. I am trying to find a link on a speedy bleeder that I found a while ago but now I can now find it. I want to have everything I need before I start this job of flushing the system.
XV1100SE Posted June 6, 2014 #6 Posted June 6, 2014 You didn't ask, but read this about DOT 5 - do not use ! http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27431
djh3 Posted June 6, 2014 #7 Posted June 6, 2014 I just bought speed bleeders off e-bay. About $7 each seem s to be the going rate and $5 for shipping. I ordered all 4 from same supplier, so only one shipping cost. You need 2ea SB7100S For front 1ea SB8125L for rear and 1ea SB8125 for clutch. I have been told the trick for the clutch bleeder swap is to remove the faux fin there by the clutch bleeder.
