Bert2006 Posted June 5, 2014 #1 Posted June 5, 2014 Does the 2nd gen RSV have a cb with a ground plane or not? Or do i need to worry about if i am not replacing any cables? I want to replace my antennas with Firestik Firefly's 3ft'ers. I intend to also switch out the folding mounts as I was told that the originals would not be standard mounts that work with the Firefly's. Would be using the same cb antenna for am\fm side too.
BOO Posted June 6, 2014 #2 Posted June 6, 2014 Yes the frame is the ground plane and you will need a duplexer to feed the two radios into one antenna. Guest tx2sturgis Posted June 6, 2014 #3 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) If I understand your question correctly, you will be using one 3 ft Firestick for the CB and another 3ft Firestick for the AM/FM? In that case you will not need a splitter, and assuming you are able to tune the antenna for lowest SWR, it should work ok for CB comms of a mile or less. Your AM/FM range might be seriously diminished as well. I prefer the Francis CB antennas...they are made better and are not as thick and heavy. And they just look SO much better on a bike. You can find these at the larger truckstops or online: http://francisantennaonline.com/francis_antenna_3_foot_hot_rod_cb_antenna.html Edited June 6, 2014 by tx2sturgis
