Had a great ride yesterday with the Queen down to Port Dover for lunch. She enjoyed the ride fo rthe most part but has some issues with the amout of wind buffeting she is getting, mostly from the sides. I understand the amount and directing of wind buffeting she gets is dictated by a few issues, including the windshield. I was wondering if anyone local has a wider aftermarket screen that they have either for sale, or on the bike that I could see if that solves her problem before spending the money.

Thanks

Reiny

I have an F4 stock height and wide.

Let us know if you want to have a look.

But guess that would only be one thing you want to look at.

We better not bring our wives...from his posts I think Reiny has his eyes on other things too. :-)

For what it's worth, I got a Clearview in stock height but 2.5 inches wider (per side) with a bit of a flip at the top. My wife said it didn't really do much to reduce the buffeting at highway speeds. She's only 5 ft 2 in. so it's not like she sticks way up in the air on that back seat. I tried opening and closing the vent to see if reduced vacuum behind the shield would move the pocket of still air further back, but no luck. The best cure seems to be a good quality full face helmet - at least the noise level is lower (For her I mean!).

All joking aside from you easterners:rotf: It would be very interesting to have a discussion, opinion from those of us that do ride 2 up. My wife has full face and i have the stock windshield and have been pouring over the threads to see what I can do to make her life easier. Happy wife more cycle time:backinmyday: Wider, shorter, vent no vent. it is all very confusing:confused24:.

When we ride, Tammie does say there is more wind buffeting then there was on the 86, but on RSV she can at least look over my head rather then at the back of it like she had with the 86. Her main beef is the height of the passenger backrest on the trunk, that should be taken care of soon.

I look over my windshield so I am sure that is part of the buffeting that she feels and I feel it as well as highway speeds, but I will put up with it as I don't want to or like to look through the windshield.

My wife is not happy with the backrest position either. She liked the 84 much better. You say you are fixing that... hmmmm How are you going to do that?

Hi Wayne,

I was at Clares in Fonthill getting an oil filter for the 250, and asked the parts guy if there was an after market passenger backrest that Yamaha had for the RSV, they have one listed, it is 3" higher then the stock one. For Tammie that means the top of the back rest pad is jut below her shoulder blades and offers more support. I had her sit on our bike and then I measured up from the top of the stock backrest so she would have an idea of where the new one would come up to.

The backrest looks exactly like the one that your can get through Corbin. I don't have the part number for it but the cost was around 353.00 so it wasn't cheap. We do enough 2 up riding that it is probably worth it for me to take the plunge and order it, because what is that old saying "happy wife happy life"

I may be wrong but I don't think that is correct. The one that Yamaha sold was actually the Corbin with a Yamaha logo stitched into it. They are the same. I had the Corbin seat and the passenger backrest on my '99, Yammer Dan's now, and I'm 99% sure that it was NOT higher than the stock backrest. The main difference is that the arms extend out further but I'm almost sure that it was no higher. If so, it was insignificant.
