Wizard765 Posted June 1, 2014 #1 Posted June 1, 2014 A few weeks ago Ben took Carl and I for a tour on some of his favourite roads. At some point we were going to ride the Forks of the Credit which is a great ride following the Credit River.. Anyhow right at the start is a nice Ice Cream place where bunches of bikers gather to swap stories and chow down on their favourite flavours.. On a nice day there are lots of bikes there. Must have been 40 or 50 parked in and around the joint. So today decided to treat my beautiful bride to the same ride. When we got to the Ice Cream joint it was just as crowded. So I got lucky and found a spot right out front on the shoulder.. The Navigator pointed it out and said. "look a spot" so I dutifully pulled into THAT spot.. What I failed to notice was the large hole with loose gravel in the bottom.. so when I stopped and planted my feet the right one didn't stay planted.. I am not strong enough to hold up 800 lbs plus my 110 lb wife so she gently layed over on her right side IN FRONT OF LOTS OF FOLKS!!!!! Twas somewhat EMBARASSING!! BUT I had lots of volunteers with smiles on their faces helping me pick it up and other than my pride there is no damage.. So question is .. Is it $5.00 U.S. or $5.00 Canadian.. There is a BIG difference donchyaknow...
XV1100SE Posted June 1, 2014 #2 Posted June 1, 2014 As long as nothing is broken on the bike (glad you got it all back together - how is the BuddyRich cable working out?)
Sylvester Posted June 1, 2014 #3 Posted June 1, 2014 Been there done that. Wife fine but I got a severe bruise on my left calf. Took weeks to heal and I still have a bump where it happened. That was two years ago.
bongobobny Posted June 1, 2014 #4 Posted June 1, 2014 Yup! When they decide to take a nap there's no stopping them!!
Bubber Posted June 1, 2014 #5 Posted June 1, 2014 "So question is .. Is it $5.00 U.S. or $5.00 Canadian.. There is a BIG difference donchyaknow..." To answer your question..... YES! Glad only your pride was hurt. Bubber

My father was born in a small village at the Forks of the Credit, just up from the big RR trestle that crosses the valley by the hairpin curve.
MikeWa Posted June 2, 2014 #8 Posted June 2, 2014 I always just lay my bike down when I run in for ice cream. Mike
stickhandle2 Posted June 2, 2014 #9 Posted June 2, 2014 Wayne, Glad nothing but your pride is hurt, that will get better. nothing worse then the slow oh oh, I think we have all been there. Real question is was the ice cream still good. I remember cruising to that ice cream stop when I lived in Bramalea as a youngster, and a cruise to "Forks" was a great ride even back then. Glad you guys are ok. Mike
Wizard765 Posted June 2, 2014 Author #10 Posted June 2, 2014 Nobody got hurt.. bike is fine.. ICE CREAM was GREAT!! And the ride was great.. excellent day all in all.
saddlebum Posted June 2, 2014 #11 Posted June 2, 2014 Glad you and Robin are OK and the bike suffered minimal injury. Strange though I do not remember Laying the bike over as part of the route I showed you and Carl.
chabicheka Posted June 2, 2014 #12 Posted June 2, 2014 Very easy for this to happen with these bikes, Wayne. One of the reasons why i got rid of the bike. Am not getting any stronger due to ageing and these things are not easy to handle when you are riding slow or trying to stop...especially if there is some sand or gravel on the road. Glad to hear you two were okay. Take Care.
djh3 Posted June 2, 2014 #13 Posted June 2, 2014 I dont know if there is a "written rule" on that. I would say whatever local currency is. Beats me, I just hope I dont get to pay, because I dont think I could get enough help here to rite this thing.
Evan Posted June 2, 2014 #14 Posted June 2, 2014 Wayne, that just goes to show that it can happen to the best people.
relic Posted June 2, 2014 #15 Posted June 2, 2014 Came though Belfountain yesterday as well Wayne but chose to come back down Mississauga road to get home rather than the forks road. You are riding in my backyard you know. Sorry we didnt meet up.
Marcarl Posted June 2, 2014 #16 Posted June 2, 2014 Been there, done that,, maybe next time you need to scratch your head when the lot is full with only one empty spot,,,,, Why is nobody parking there??,,,,, you were probably # 15 for the day and they probably had a crew on site to get bikes back up. Yep, next comes the gas pump,, just stay out of farmers' fields, they can get lumpy. And that's what you get for not inviting company!
Stache Posted June 2, 2014 #17 Posted June 2, 2014 Twas somewhat EMBARASSING!! BUT I had lots of volunteers with smiles on their faces helping me pick it up and other than my pride there is no damage.. Been there, done this. Once with damage. It's the 847 lbs that makes it such a solid comfortable ride, but your bike gets tired too hauling it's own weight around. If it wants to take a nap, let it. You and spouse are unhurt, which is all that counts.
Waahoo Posted June 4, 2014 #18 Posted June 4, 2014 I used to love going down to the credit when I was a kid. Will have to take a ride down there again very soon. Only 20 minutes away from my house...nice place to ride and glad to hear nothing but your pride was hurt! Missed a shift and wound mine out a bit in front of a large crowd yesterday so I know the feeling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Trader Posted June 4, 2014 #19 Posted June 4, 2014 truth be told thats why Carl is on 3 wheels:stickpoke:
