clydegator Posted June 1, 2014 #1 Posted June 1, 2014 today the bike tried to start. my 2007 royal star tour deluxe. turned over then flooded it i think. then i waited and tried to start it again then all i got was a click starter would not engage. then i took battery out and went to parts store and battery tested good. so i put back in and still only a click. so i jumped the relay and she started and ran. shut down and had to jump relay again and started fine. so i think i need a new starter relay. dose this sound good or am i missing something. thanks
Bodaggit23 Posted June 1, 2014 #2 Posted June 1, 2014 My first thought was hydrolocked but jumping the relay wouldn't have got you started. I'd say you are correct.
Neil86 Posted June 2, 2014 #3 Posted June 2, 2014 You would want to test for battery voltage on the red/white wire and the blue wire at your starter relay with key on. If voltage is good on both the relay coil is good. You could then ground the blue wire and if relay cranks the starter the relay is fine. If the starter relay checks out good you might have to do some checks on the starting circuit cutoff relay, the blue wire goes over there before going to the starter button, which grounds the circuit to operate the starter relay. Your various interlocks are wired around the cutoff relay to determine whether using starter is permitted.
