YamaDuck Posted June 4, 2014 Author #26 Posted June 4, 2014 Ok if I am correct I found some info that says it is a 30amp stator at 5000rpm. So now I now what to look for if I have to get a new stator.
Neil86 Posted June 4, 2014 #27 Posted June 4, 2014 Flyinfool posted a link to the step by step procedure for testing....start at the beginning... and follow it through. Its just my opinion, but I think unhooking your battery cable while its running is a risky procedure for the electronics on your bike.

That was nice of Flyinfool and I am following his procedure. My battery was fully charged but I took Flyinfools advice in his procedure and I am starting all over again and I am charging the battery at 2amps and it is taking forever. It shows fully charged by the needle on my charger but the green light has not come on indicating it is fully charged. Thank you for your opinion on the battery cable. I really don't know anything about that. I am just following a few other peoples suggestion to check to see if the stator is working and to check the voltage coming from the R/R. Of course I may have misunderstood also. I am flying blind here.
YamaDuck Posted June 4, 2014 Author #29 Posted June 4, 2014 (edited) You know I think I have wasted everyone's time here and I am sorry. I apologize. It appears as though Flyinfools first instruction on the list is all that was needed. Even though I keep both bikes on the trickle charger and even though the auto parts place said the battery was good and even though I charged it on the 10amp setting when I started before I read Flyinfools instruction it seems that charging the 01 on the 2amp setting solved the voltage drop when I rev the engine. I did get so far as the check the connect at the R/R and it looked good. Now maybe I did not have a good connection at the R/R. Someone before me had put the R/R on upside down so someone has been there before me. Anyway everything seems to be running as it should. Cranked with low load it showed 14.20 volts and as I rev'd the engine it stayed pretty much there. Then I put a full load on and it showed 14.04 volts and as I rev'd it the voltage went down to 13.98 volts. So now I am charging the MM on the 2amp slow charge. I still do not know why it drained the battery on the way home the other day but I think the brake light may have stuck on. My LED brake light came in today so I will switch that out and I will take the front brake leaver off and grease it so it doesn't stick anymore and we will go from there. I want to thank you all for all the wonderful help I received. You guys are the best! Harry:thumbsup2: Edited June 4, 2014 by YamaDuck
djh3 Posted June 5, 2014 #30 Posted June 5, 2014 Hey no worries man. WE all sort of learn here together. See I wouldnt have thought it would make no difference if you charge on say 8 amp or the 2 amp trickle charge. But hey guess it does. Are you running a AGM battery (it would be sealed) or does it have caps you can take off.
