I sadly had to make a final decision on my 87. I bought it non-running from a guy who had it in an airplane hanger next to a very nice plane. He had let it sit for several years and could not get it running. Since I knew of the top secret SeaFoam repair, i thought I could get her running really quick and have a second bike for my son to ride. Unfortunately the PO had tried many wierd things to get the bike running. One was running some type of very harsh cleaner through the carbs that just destroyed practically every piece of rubber in each carb. He also "jerry" rigged ( sorry Jerry) the wiring and vacuum lines trying to do who knows what. I found the cruise control vacuum line attached to the front left cylinder :shock3: ( poor man's cruise control fix ? )

Well after realizing that the bike needed way more than I could afford to put into it, and that it had so many new items ( 2 new tires) and upgraded parts...that would look really nice on my 89..I decided that it was time to put the lady to rest.

I needed the new rear tire off of it and this is what I did...just switched the rear rims...

I took her to my Dad's where my other two parts bikes are residing...

Using his tractor I removed the rime and tire..

By pulling the trailer forward and having my brother-in-law steady the bike, off she came...

Took off some nice upgrades and wrapped her up for future parts...

Still makes me sad, but my 89 is looking really nice with the upgrades and I know I have the parts to keep the Brunette running for a while.. Bye Bye Blondie... :crying:

You still got a bunch of good parts left on that thing. I bought a parts bike in much worst shape and made about 5 grand off it parting it out on ebay.

Hey Patrica, what do you need? I found a front cylinder header and two baffle removed pipes while I was cleaning up my work space last weekend. You are welcome to them if you can use them.

Bob, need the rear ones with the heatshield, but I'll take those too.

You know, it is amazingly hard to move a Venture Royale to parts status. I am sure having a hard time doing that. I just bought an 08 RSV S but I can't imagine actually tearing my 91 VR apart. I have not given up the idea of getting it back on the road.

It was a real tough decision. I hate seeing another one bight the dust. The problem is what I could get for it selling it already taken apart and not running, verses the money saved and upgraded parts to my 89 is far apart. I have already saved $500.00 in parts and tires and hundreds more on the upgraded chrome parts.

It is what it is.

Just a sad day.
