cowpuc Posted May 29, 2014 Author #27 Posted May 29, 2014 Puc...that IS style....just like I tell people I'm in great shape. ('cause round IS a shape!) Ahhhhh,, I think I am catching on here Trader,,,,,, kinda like my bald SPOT is actually a style of a haircut... Thanks makes sense... Phew,, for a while there I thought Randy was talking smack bout ol Pucs way of camping not being cool or groovy or something...
Dragonslayer Posted May 29, 2014 #28 Posted May 29, 2014 (edited) Opps,, guess I should have said $1400,, not $14,,, maybe that helps?? If so,, my bad guys!!!See there you go. That's why I was confused, $1,400 makes more sense to me. It drives me crazy when we as a culture, in our communication styles, abbreviates, uses acronyms or meaningless words to describe something. (i.e. Whatzitsname, dumaflauty, whatchamacallit,...) that we assume everyone else understands what we are talking about. No Puc, I do understand that you have a rare gift and talent for finding the great finds. I am very envious of you for that. As far as the safety and comfort comment. You evidently like to use your 1st gen Mk1 to do cross country. :7_2_104[1]:Here again I envy you for that. You must be a much better rider than me because due to the weight of these bikes I would never dream of using a Touring street bike :7_6_3[1]:as a duo sport bike. :7_2_102[1]:I really don't even like to go on gravel roads even though I sometimes do. I did a few trips on my 1st gen like you do in the beginning and found very quickly when it comes to motorcycle camping I enjoy it more with a few creature comforts. ( i.e. a blow up pillow top queen size mattress, folding camp chairs, the pop-up shade gazebo, a cooler comes in handy, camp stove, cooking utensils, lanterns, enough changes of clothes to stay clean, dry and comfortable for the length of the trip, not to mention appropriate weather gear for the unexpected weather changes that has bitten me in the back side more then once.) With that said a trailer is an absolute must to me. If You enjoy it the way you roll more power to you:thumbsup2:.... Just not me. Edited May 29, 2014 by Dragonslayer
Dragonslayer Posted May 29, 2014 #29 Posted May 29, 2014 Thats ok Bob,, I see - hear things all the time that I find hard to believe too.. Thats what makes us humans special and where the term "one mans junk is another mans treasure" probably has its foundation.. Also, I get that type of comment alllll the time from folks who have never been self employed Bob.. In my business, if something is obviously not market strong (like an XR350 right now) ya try something else (like trade it) and see what happens,, or,, in more common lingo,, when life gives ya lemons ya smile and make lemonaid.. Thats how I have been able to provide for my family all these years.. Wanna hear about another one that you probably wont buy either:rotf:?? Last winter I picked up a 2007 Harley Super Glide Custom (see pics) from a kid on the other side of the State.. Bike had 13K on it, nice machne.. Went to look, took some cash (IN MY WORLD ITS CASH IS KING). Offered the guy 3500 for it and he took it (we are talking a Twin Cam HD here).. His Dad was in the garage while we were wheelin dealin and over heard his son telling me that the local Harley shop, which was owned by his Grandpa, had just gone completely thru the bike for him prepping it for winter storage.. Because I am simular to you in that some things just dont sound right, when the deal was done I asked the dad why on earth they just didnt have the Grandfather put it on the show room floor and that he could have easily gotten another 3 grand out of it.. This was in early January.. His dad told me that his Grandpa had not sold A (as in one Bob) bike since OCTOBER and they needed the cash to help Grandpa keep the doors open!!! Hard to believe for some people,, yep,, is it true,, bet chur sweet onions!!Hey I get it I once had to sell a Corvette I paid $10K for for $5K cause I needed to catch up with house notes before foreclosure. It was that or sleep in the corvette which I do not advise. If you got cash you can find all kinds of deals. By the way,,, never said I never said I was "fundamentally against motorcycle camping in safety and comfort" Those are YOUR words - not MINE,,, making THAT NOT TRUE!! PucI really am proud of you.
