Are there any problems specific to a 2008 RSV? I am looking at one, not high on my list but I am looking at one.

Yeah, know that. Very aware of VR's and RSV's, RSTD's. But ... there was something with the 08 I thought ... but ask anyone, they will all agree I should not thought too much.

07 had a recall for head bolt torque other then that I don't think the 08 has any special problems.

That was it. But it was the 07 not the 08 right? Thanks a lot. I new my memory was not that bad.

What am I doing here anyway? Where am I?? Ahh ...........

The main problem is, when you ride it, trying to get the smile off your face.

No no no. I am looking at a 2nd gen, a RSV ... not a first gen. :cool10:

Yes the recall was for bikes manufactured in 07 which included some early 08 units.

Ask me how I know. Go ahead ask.

Ain't even broke in yet. Quit thinking and buy.

The problem is I am coming off 23 years and 235,000 + miles on my first gen. I really like a first gen. I have never been to enamored with the road patty, honestly I have never even ridden one before. But, it is proving way too hard to find a decent first gen at a good price.

But I am thinking on it!!

Whats a "good price" and how many miles when looking for a first gen? Time to time I find llike half dozen for sale here in Fla. Anywhere from a few hundred to 4k.

$1500 for a 91 w/82k?

Yeah, I saw that one. Have not called on it though. You know the bike by any chance?

I am looking for a mechanically sound bike. I can still do some light wrenching and maintenance but essentially it's got to be an OK runner. I got lots of hard and cosmetic parts available!

My own opinion a 23 year old bike in perfect condition isn't worth $1500, VR or not. But then, my opinion matters very little to anyone but myself!

And don't any body get me wrong here. I am just crazy about the VR. Great bikes. And If I could do some heavy wrenching nowadays I would fix mine. BUT, a 23 year old bike with the mileage I have on mine, is just not a good investment of time, money and parts and these things are certainly not worth doing a ground up restoration on. Big waste of $$$.

I am without doubt having quite a problem finding a replacement bike, either new or old and across all brands that can come close to the old thing sitting out there in the garage under the cover.

But still I try! I am so hard up for a ride ... I have resorted to looking at a 2nd gen.:stirthepot:

If a perfect 91 is not worth $1500 bucks, then there is not much worry about you spending enough to own a 2nd gen:stirthepot: whaaat? someone hadda say it:confused24::rotf:

7K out the door for an 08 with that mileage is amazing. I paid almost that much for my 01 earlier this year with 9K miles.

Well, I guess it is all relative. My self, I feel that virtually all motorcycles are way over priced for what you get now a days. But they are what they are I guess. You can get two brand new cars that get 40 mpg, have a/c, heat, sound system and air bags all over the place for the cost of a new touring bike.

Value is in the eye of the beholder as is beauty ehh?

Regardless, I always appreciate input on my situation here. And I gotta do something about my two wheel situation. I need cycle therapy pretty bad ...
