ediddy Posted May 20, 2014 #1 Posted May 20, 2014 I was on a trip 2 weeks ago and started going down the ramp to get on I 10. In 5th gear at about 60mph and twisted the throttle and the engine reved up. I have the dreaded clutch slip. I made it 66,000 miles but have to fix know.
Flyinfool Posted May 20, 2014 #2 Posted May 20, 2014 The easiest fix is to just get the stronger spring from SkyDoc_17 and a new gasket. You don't even have to drain the oil. The oil will stay in as long as the bike is on the side stand. Many people also change out the half plate to a full plate at the same time. You will have to inspect your plates and steels to see if they need replacing or not.
rickardracing Posted May 20, 2014 #3 Posted May 20, 2014 I did the stronger Skydoc spring, but then I ended up finding a good deal on a performance clutch and going that route.
steamer Posted May 20, 2014 #4 Posted May 20, 2014 With 66000 miles, I'd change the clutch at the same time installing Skydoc's up grade kit. It's going to be opened up anyway. Do it all while your in there.
