Check your nuts !

Now that most of us have been riding for a while this season... just a reminder to check some of the common "loose nuts", bolts, and screws that come loose.

 

Shifter bolt

Trunk hinge mechanism screws

Saddle bag hinge screws

Saddle bag rails (front chrome piece)

Seat nuts

Steering heat (bounce test, or with bike lifted turn wheel 45* to the left and if it moves when released it's too loose)

Any accessory added

 

When I wash the bike I usually give the bike a going over checking these things. Good time to make sure everything is tight and to check lights and tire pressures.

Just to add one, especially for 1st genners, is to check your side stand bolt/nut for being snug.

just open the trunk and saddle bags and reattach everything laying in there!

I had my bike at the dealer last week for a routine service. They said one of the bolts that hold the gas tank on was missing and they replaced it. I have had many bolts come loose but never heard of a bolt holding the gas tank missing.

don't forget the 2 screws on the bottom side of the gas cap

So far my GW has not had any loose nuts except one... "ME"........
