Trade a 42 WLA for a new Harley....

Soooo,, got a visit today from one of our local Harley Shop owners (guy smelled like $$'s - certainly didnt have that oil/grease smell that seems to follow me ).. Came by to take a peek at the WLA.. Offered me a new Street Glide straight up... Told him I couldnt do that and said I would consider a new Ultra Limited, closer to matching "book" values.. He went away .. Said he would let me know in a few days... Interesting day to say the least:backinmyday:

Been in the business for so long Randy it is VERY difficult to separate inventory from keepers.. If I did do it it would be strickly business.. A brand new Ultra has a vastly broader scope of potential buyers than the WLA,,,,,,,, the WLA IS wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy cooler though,,, plus the guilt thingy, yea... The potential "trade" would be done with someone who,, though very very wealthy, has a VERY patriotic background,, war veteran family and would be an excellent home for the bike.. It would, undoubtedly get no where near the ride time that it gets with me BUT would still be used in honor parades and the like,, we talked for quite a while about that..

 

Got an invite to a huge Veterans Memorial Rally in Kokomo Indiana couple days ago,, offer being if I bring the bike it wouldnt cost me anything for the week of camping... Apparently this shin dig is in September (perfect timing for Tippy and I,, we usually have our summer touring wrapped up by Sept 1 as the mountains get dicey) sometime.. Guy took my home phone and offered to call me and remind me of his offer later this summer.. IF I still have the bike, I plan on calling the previous owners son (who I bought it from) who was "Special Forces" in Nam and invite him to go with us to go down, attend the rally and "reclaim" his Dads bike for the week,, I would gladly just step aside and let him go with his comrades in arms... I told the guy who made the offer of that idea and he started crying (Vietnam Vet too),, said that would be soooooooo cool... Asked if I was Vet, told him no - just a simple lover of bikes who has enjoyed the freedoms so many have fought for....

You ever been to the Kokomo Rally Randy?? I know your a Vet,, way this guy talked it is AMAZING!! Havent googled it yet but gonna..
