Money Venture Posted May 17, 2014 #1 Posted May 17, 2014 I decided with all of the cold and rain we are having, might as well change the front tire on the bike. I pulled it this afternoon from the bike with the intention of changing the tire tomorrow. I got bored tonight and ended up pulling the old tire, cleaning the rim and installing the new tire tonight. First one I have changed the tire on. In the past, I pulled the wheel and took it to someone to change. Bearings felt good. Repacked them. I'll balance it tomorrow and reinstall it. It actually was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

RedRider Posted May 17, 2014 #5 Posted May 17, 2014 Wait until you try to change out a rear tire. Finding a good local shop will be your next action. Well done though. RR
Money Venture Posted May 17, 2014 Author #6 Posted May 17, 2014 I was going to take this one to a shop but decided I might need to change it on the road so I better practice. I might take the rear to the shop then.

IMHO,, you hit the nail on the head (no pun intended - nail/flat tire) about handling a flat tire on the road,,, practice makes perfect for that moment in time when a flat happens!! If you can do a front, you can do a rear.. Up front info on the rear,, there is a washer/spacer on the axle that goes against the rear caliper mount,, remembering whether that goes against the swingarm or rear wheel is the hardest part of the whole project..
Money Venture Posted May 17, 2014 Author #8 Posted May 17, 2014 Thanks PUC for the heads up. The rear tire is scheduled for next month. I need to get pads for the front since..........I'm already in there.
