baylensman Posted May 16, 2014 #1 Posted May 16, 2014 So I'm putting in a PIAA H4 motorsport bulb next week. (days off changed) While I have the fairing apart (split) I have a small audio issue. sometime when I accelerate my radio makes a POP CRACKLE sound like some one is plugging a Mic into an amp and the speakers seem a little louder. It only does it once and ususally right when I start out ( speed bump in condo parking lot). So do i pull all the connectors and spray them with electric contact cleaner and put dieeletric on them all? or is there another known issue
Carbon_One Posted May 16, 2014 #2 Posted May 16, 2014 Once you have the outer fairing off wiggle the separate connectors to possibly find the one causing your problem. Still it wouldn't hurt to spray all the connectors. Larry
stardbog Posted May 16, 2014 #3 Posted May 16, 2014 Larry is right, forget color code of audio connectors, but most of us with audio issue use dielectric grease to lube connectors inside plug(s).
djh3 Posted May 16, 2014 #4 Posted May 16, 2014 It certainly wouldnt hurt I dont think. Its that "ounce of prevention" thing. Sounds like one is a little loose possibly. I can tell you dont forget the one where you plug your helmet in also, if you use that one. I checked and took care of everything under the fairing. And I still would get a "gravely" kind of sound occasionally. I figured out eventually it was only with helmet plugged in. I had missed the ones rite under my nose. Oh and DONT locktight the screws going back together. A smidgin of RTV will work fine.
Barrycuda Posted May 16, 2014 #5 Posted May 16, 2014 + 1 on all the previous comments and suggestions. Also, see if there are any wiring components that are touching each other. Can you zip tie any of them to prevent loosening up due to vibration? took mine apart, die electrical greased it all and zip tied where I can. ZERO radio issues...
