I want to upgrade my horns on my 2006 RSV but was wondering if there isn't a better more forward location to put them to project the sound forward better.

Anyone have any comments or pictures of horns mounted in other places?

Thanks.

Need to replace them on my '99 as well. I've been looking online and trying to find some that does not require the use of a relay and will fit in that tiny spot behind the front left fairing.

I have considered just replacing the current 2 horns with an air horn but just can't find a good place to mount one toward the front,...............

unless someone has successfully mounted the Stebel behind the fairing???

On my 05 when I had it I put an electric horn in place of the one under the left lower cowling AND one inside the fairing next to the radio box AND a Stebel air horn in place of the stock horn on the right side of the bike. I do make a nice Stainless Steel bracket for placing either a Stebel or Wolo air horn on the right side in place of the stock unit. As for a relay you really should use one to get the full volume out of any horn used. Again I make a nice plug and play harness that'll take all of 15 minutes to install both a horn of your choice and the wiring harness.

Other folks have also mounted their horns off the passenger floor boards and bag guard rails.

+1 I have both the bracket and the harness on my Venture. Really simple install.

An earlier post suggested mounting the horn to direct the noise forward. Can't say I think that necessary. Pretty sure no-one has trouble hearing my Stebel from the side-mount.

Another consideration is water and derbies getting inside the horn if facing forward.

I mounted one on the left in the cowl by your foot. Look at picture, there just under the cruise controler I think it is. to the right of the shift lever. Out of the way and semi-dry.

I bought Carbon_One's bracket and wiring harness. I could not possibly be happier. I love this horn, though I have yet to use it in anger.

I do, however, toot it to the wife when I go out riding... She loves it too

Only time I used it where it helped was on a residential street, taking a corner and my buddy up front had his cell phone drop out of his pocket on the road. I beeped it a couple times and he stopped straight away. Was probably 75 yards ahead of me ( and probably playing music in his helmet )

Carbon_One's kit makes the install easier than pulling over for fuel.

For my 2006 RSV, one stebel in place of the stock horn on the right behind the floorboard using Carbon One's bracket, and one stebel inside the main fairing on the left with a home made bracket attached to the meter mount with "extension" wires routed from the front left stock horn inside the lower left cowling.
