Geobob Posted May 12, 2014 #1 Posted May 12, 2014 It has been a long time since this bike looked this good. I purchased it in maybe 1991? with only 1,200 miles on it. It was perfect for a good 5 years. It was totaled in an accident that did not really damage that much but it has never been fully repaired. It has had two more falls but they were minor and I have been riding a loving owning this bike the whole time. I think it has been to at least 4 class reunions so much more so it has a lot of good memories. I guess that is why I did not just go buy another low mileage one to replace this one. I also like the color. The plastic repairs and repaint cost $2,000 so I don't know if I would recommend it for what the bikes are worth but it was for me since at this stage of my life the money was not worth as much as the bike looking right again.
CMCOFFEY Posted May 12, 2014 #2 Posted May 12, 2014 That is one sexy bike right there. I love white bikes.
Evan Posted May 13, 2014 #9 Posted May 13, 2014 Congratulations on what looks to be a GREAT job. I think these are great bikes and having a long term relationship with one that looks that good is pretty special.
Beau-Kat Posted September 3, 2014 #13 Posted September 3, 2014 Ya done good! I know that 1988 color scheme was well worth restoration. According to some, it might not be the fastest color (go ahead Yammer Dan and chime in here). But it sure is the most beautifullist.
Freebird Posted September 3, 2014 #14 Posted September 3, 2014 FANTASTIC. That is my very favorite of all the first gens and same as my first Venture. I often wish I had kept that one just to have.

Nice looking bike. Same color as my '87....
Marcarl Posted September 3, 2014 #17 Posted September 3, 2014 Nice job! You can be proud of that accomplishment.
Pegasus1300 Posted September 4, 2014 #18 Posted September 4, 2014 These are the type of stories that I love to read. Man buys bike rides and enjoys it for years lots of good memories and then puts it back to original and starts over again for more memories.:cool10: BTW beautiful job on the restoration.
Evan Posted September 4, 2014 #19 Posted September 4, 2014 Yup Bob, looks like a good job well done. Love these 1st gens, and it is great to see them like yours.
saddlebum Posted September 4, 2014 #20 Posted September 4, 2014 Fantastic job Bob. Having gone through much the same, from write off to restoration I can totally acknowledge the feeling of accomplishment and pride you must have.
Chaharly Posted September 6, 2014 #22 Posted September 6, 2014 Eventually i'll get a two tone brown 85 with all the bells and whistles like mine and completely restore it! Only with the necessary upgrades from venturerider.org!
Barrycuda Posted September 6, 2014 #23 Posted September 6, 2014 That is one sexy bike right there. I love white bikes. +1 on the bike and color
Yama Mama Posted October 31, 2014 #25 Posted October 31, 2014 :cool10:That is an absolutely beautiful motorcycle. I love the color. Ride safe and enjoy every mile of your ride! Mama
