So I take it you never knew about the 1999 to 2001 Royal Star Boulevard

I knew about it but never thought about doing it. But when the new RSTD came out it seemed like it would have been a good option since the RSTD is the exact same bike as the Venture. Didn't the older bikes have a different frame? I could be wrong about that though.

I bought the Nomad when it first came out...Spent about 2500 on new seat, exhaust , ignition and rejet and some sparkles...Loved the bike and traded on an 07 Midnight Venture...with much misgiving.....

No comparison !!!!! You are comparing apples and oranges. In all the years I had the Nomad we never went further than 250 miles. Too much noise, too much vibration - too tiring. Since getting the Venture have gone 12000+ miles that's 2000 more than the Nomad in 9 years! Our longest trip was 4300 miles in 16 days. Haven't regreted the change for one second!!!

If your normal use will be short run to the nearest beer joint , like the HD crowd or a Sunday ride...get whatever looks better to you.

If you plan to really ride, you really don't have a choice but to get the RSV.

And it really isn't fair to compare prices - they are not equivalent, you get soooo much more with the RSV.

Good luck !!!

It's all a matter of what you want touse the bike for. I traded an 05 Nomad in on my 06 Venture. Why? Because when I had my Nomad my wife was riding her VTX all the time. We did have a trailer hitch on the Nomad and took one trip 2 up pulling the trailer. I have to say, the Nomad struggled with that much of a load. Then my wife said she would rather ride with me if we traveled together longer distances. So the Nomad went by the wayside and I bought the Venture simply because it's a much better choice to pull a trailer and for two up riding.

I personally loved the Nomad and will more than likely buy one again someday. But for now I am loving the Vennture and my wife now has a KAwasaki 1500 Classic she rides when we do short jaunts.

Bottom line, if you're looking into doing any kind of real distance riding, go with the Venture.

I had a 2004 Midnight venture and a 2007 1600 Nomad. Due to personal reasons one had to go.

I put both up for sale and the Venture went first.

I then was able to keep the Nomad.

I still wish the Nomad had sold instead as I prefer the Venture, bigger tank, radio, cruise, better wind protection, more storage room etc

however, I still have a ride and the Nomad is a good bike
