Just exactly where is the regulator on my 89 VR? I had a new stator put in about 11 years ago, it had a new design allowing it to be cooled more efficiently. Now my system is not keeping the battery charged up so I'm guessing it's the regulator this time around. Battery is brand new.

Just got in from checking the stator using info in the tech library of the Venturers web site. Found out my 10 year old stator is done. Hardly a volt coming through when I crossed the 1 wire with the 3 wire @ 3000 rpm. The other 2 combinations were only putting out 40 v AC and it was supposed to be around 60. At idle, the 1 - 3 combination output was almost nothing and the other two put out 14 v and should have been 20-25. The original stator lasted 13 years and the new "improved" one lasted 10. :confused24:

Does your bike still have the large White Plug installed between Stator, and Regulator??

If so , be sure to check the condition of the Pins in the plug !!! Make sure not burned up !!!

OK everything in life is a compromise! The upside of High Output stators is they give out a lot more power than stock ones. The downside is this power generates more heat, the enemy of stators! The unfortunate truth is H.O. stators don't last as long as the stock ones...
