Hi All,

Does anyone happen to know what size of wrench is used for the crown nut (I think that is what is called) on the steering head of a 2nd gen when tightening the steering head bearings.

Thanks

Put a socket on it, and if it won't go on it's too small, so you get a bigger one,,,, now if it goes on and starts to slip look for something a little bit smaller,,, if the next one fits just right,,,,,,,,,,, that's the one I would use!!!!

Can't help it,,,, I'm so wise:whistling::think:

Spelling error!!!!!!!!!! 'asked' is not spelled 'axed',,,, or maybe I should run???? Glad I got a 1st gen still.

Dingy makes the perfect wrench for the job! I suppose I can lend you mine (KEY WORD LEND) if you want or buy one from him. Eliminates the hammer and screwdriver and allows a torque wrench to be applied. I can give it to groundhugger WED if you like...

Hi Bob,

Appreciate the offer, but I should be ok with the hammer and screwdriver. But you can let me pick your brain for a few minutes at Carls in a couple weeks, regarding some different roads in your area.

Thanks again for the offer.

Mike.

I think Carl has an extra one or two even,,, don't remember how that happened, but I believe it was a brain fart or something, I'll have to ask him sometime.

Just for correct language, it is a Castle Nut.

Man that wore me out. :clap2:

:farmer:

I think it is called an ACORN nut.

A castle nut looks like a castle on top (like you find on spindles and axles with cotter pins going through them).
