Dint want to thread stealer so here's my issues

Idle 11.8 4000rpm 12.4 best

Stator three wire reading

Low stator ohm est 0.3 but 1/0.00 2/0.00 3/0.00

High ohm est 0.00 but 1/ 0.8 2/ 1.1 3/ 0.9

Engine idle est 21.4ac 1-2 / 21.4 1-3 / 21.4 2-3 / 21.4

4000 Rpms est 110-112ac 1 / 112 2/112 3/114

Battery good 12.7 charged load test good Duralast Aug 2013

Sorry if I'm confusing everyone I'm tired and legs hurting right now I do need some info on my reading

Getting cycle ready for B2Mom&Dads meet for grins & giggles figure I better chk charging system found it not charging

Looks like the stator is OK, so it has to be the R/R or the connector to it. Recheck your stator wire test at the R/R connector, and if you have roughly the same AC voltage there, your R/R is toast!

THKS guys for the info. Sure does help

I was thinking it be the regulator but after crawling around on the floor for a while avoiding my knee is not fun ! Got to the point after reading the OHM meter four times and tracing wires I was pretty much done I looked like a fat fish out of water lol

I ordered a regulator from Ebay should and hope to have it here Monday afternoon

Buddy...

if you had the stator unplugged and tested the windings to ground and got a low resistance the stator is shorted. Not sure if the ohms test High was that one?

Use the stator case for the ground point.

You should have a low resistance 1-2, 2-3, 1-3 (say 0.3 ohms)

and high resistance ie OL on 1-ground, 2- ground 3-ground.

Ok I went out to the garage to go over it again as I was using frame work earlier

Using stator case this was my readings

Low ohm reading 1 / 0.3 , 2 / 0.3 , 3 / 0.3

High ohm reading 1/ 0.8 , 2/ 1.1 , 3/ 0.9

Were both sets of readings to ground

ie 1-ground 2-ground 3-ground

and at what meter range setting

one lead on each wire while the other one on case those are my readings

Course I'm using a harbor freight ohm meter my snap-on meter is at work

Been too long since I done this I'm trying to get my mind to work

When I go in tomorrow for Rehab I'll get the snap-on meter as it has more setting

Know I'm doing something wrong here

I had interpreted his readings as wire to wire on low ohms and high ohms. IF those were wire to ground then indeed stator is shorted to ground but then he should not get 3 fairly equal AC readings I think...

Ok I finally got the stator out what would take me 2hr or so to R&R took me most of the day just to remove the stator. Be glad when I can use my left knee again still hurts when I try to bend down on the floor so I had to roll on the floor again

After removing stator I see why I was getting sure weird readings on my meter ! I never seen reading like I was getting so I figured I was doing something wrong that and my legs hurting dint help either

Stator looks really good except for one tower as it was burnt so that tells me it had a weak spot normally when I remove one the whole thing is burnt

New stator & regulator be in Tuesday this will give me some riding time to check cycle over before the trip to TN
