cowpuc Posted April 28, 2014 #3 Posted April 28, 2014 Sounds like someone may have been driving distracted. Sad day for everyone involved. RandyA Just makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up every time this kind of stuff.. Terrible situation.. I agree with Randy,, sure sounds suspitiously like another one of those texting/talking on the phone deals.. Seems like theres more and more drivers who are willing to risk others lives over a phone conversation,,, drives me crazy..... Not saying this is what happened here but,, just sayin
Venturous Randy Posted April 28, 2014 #4 Posted April 28, 2014 While on the ride Sat thru Harlan, KY on a four lane thru town, there was a girl texting while beside of us. I hit my air horns and she did not look up. I hit them again and held them longer and she looked over at me and I pointed at her phone and she looked at me like she was caught. She laid her phone down in her seat. It showed how distracted she was when I had to blow my air horns twice when we were going about 30 mph and I was right beside her. RandyA

Killed Dan and his wife is in the hospital. The driver sped away but witnesses got all the info needed and they caught him pretty quickly.

MikeWa Posted April 28, 2014 Author #8 Posted April 28, 2014 A note to everyone. Keep your eyes and ears open. Even when stopped. Whenever possible keep an escape route. Ride Safe Mike
eusa1 Posted April 28, 2014 #9 Posted April 28, 2014 When your out riding with a friend in the daylight and you notice them in the mirror and the light is there, yet not very bright..... Save their life and tell them to run on bright untill it's dark and required to dim. Too many riders think their headlight is for night rides only. Be safe ( be bright!)
frodotoo Posted April 29, 2014 #10 Posted April 29, 2014 21 and 20 yr old local college students died on a mc as a result of someone turning in front of them just a few miles from my home on a road I frequent as a route to a fave place for a burger and brew. Both were wearing helmets. http://www.stevenspointjournal.com/article/20140422/SPJ0101/304220336/-1/7daysarchives/UWSP-mourns-students-killed-cycle-crash
