alwrmcusn Posted April 27, 2014 #1 Posted April 27, 2014 I have a 2009 Venture with a Hannigan kit installed. I do not use the radios. Neither CB nor AM/FM. I would like to remove the OEM antenna and replace them both with shorter antenna that do not extend above the trunk/rack height. It will not matter if they work or not or at least I hope not. I will keep the OEM shafts/whips in case I sell/trade at some point. Now for the details: I want something that will simply screw into the stock bases on the trike. I am hoping I can find something that will not require any "Modifications" as my aim is as I stated simply screw in and ride off. Is there anything like that available?
Guest Donald McCall Posted April 27, 2014 #2 Posted April 27, 2014 Harley antennas will fit and are short. Cost about $25.00 each. Saw a set on a Venture and the owner told me about them. Hope this helped.

Donald, Are they the ones advertised as dual antennas that are pre-tuned?? alwrmcusn Posted April 28, 2014 Author #4 Posted April 28, 2014 Thanks, I'll ride to one of the local HD dealers and take a look. I just want something that gives a more "modern" look and does not require folding up/down when I get a trike cover.
Bubber Posted April 28, 2014 #5 Posted April 28, 2014 If you don't care if it works or not why not just plug the hole or remove the mount? Why buy something that literally has no function?
alwrmcusn Posted April 29, 2014 Author #6 Posted April 29, 2014 A plugged hole looks like a plugged hole Replacements look like they belong there.
etcswjoe Posted April 29, 2014 #7 Posted April 29, 2014 I figured a retired Radioman could make his own antennas
alwrmcusn Posted April 29, 2014 Author #8 Posted April 29, 2014 Actually what Bubber said got me to thinking. It does not have to be an antenna perhaps I'll put a couple of "flag" mounts there instead. I just have to determine what size screw in I need and see if I can find something to use. If I put in flag mounts of some sort I'll just move the flags from the luggage rack down there. Then I will not have to remove the flags when I put the tour bag on the rack.
BG Hawks Posted April 29, 2014 #9 Posted April 29, 2014 I found antenna's at J&P Cycles. They did not screw in but were easily installed. Not 100% what brand but they are short; not taller than the trunk.
saddlebum Posted April 29, 2014 #10 Posted April 29, 2014 If your not using the CB and your just going to stick any old thing in the Antenna holes I suggest either pulling the fuse or cutting the power wire to the CB if it does not have an independent fuse. Just in case someone accidentally hits the transmit button.

dacheedah Posted April 30, 2014 #13 Posted April 30, 2014 tune your own, go to a gig truck stop and see what they have.

I don't think putting flags down low in place of antenna's down low, next to the trunk is a good idea, as the flags flap in the wind they'll scuff and dull your paint on the trunk
