O.K......I'm confused but lately that is the norm. Bought the BuddyRich cable, split the fairing and hooked up the cable and installed a splitter at the same time. Bought a Garmin Nuvi, bought the Ram Mount and the adapter that attaches to the rear of the GPS as well. I understood that the end of the BuddyRich cable plugs into the adapter attached to the rear of the GPS, and with the stereo/intercom controls set to "Aux" I should then hear my GPS and phone through my headset......but I don't, they go through the bikes speakers. It's only when I plug in another cable into the side of the GPS and into the aux. input by the cassette deck that I get the phone through my headset. If that's how it needs to be hooked up, what is the BuddyRich cable doing....or have I got something hooked up wrong?

Thanks

Question, is one of the two cables from gps for a mike if so that plugs into the B.R. unit other one should be a speaker out which plugs into the 1/8th plug from cassett deck.:080402gudl_prv:

I just thought that the BuddyRich cable eliminated the need for so many cables. If the speaker output from the side of the GPS takes the GPS/paired cellphone output and gets plugged into the aux input by the cassette deck, what is the BuddyRich cable doing?

Different GPS but...

I have the Zumo and it comes with a RAM mount that has and electrical connection on it for the GPS. It also has cables built into it that you run into the fairing. The BuddyRich cable goes between GPS cables and the mic/input of the bike.

I can bluetooth sync my phone to the Zumo and make/receive phone calls, listen to mp3's from the Zumo thru my headset... I only have to put the Zumo in the RAM mount and that is it. No cables to connect.

I depends on what model Nuvi you have. If you have one capable of bluetooth then there should be 2 inputs on it. One goes to the mic input that comes with the BuddyRich cable and the other goes to the speaker output like a pair of earbuds would. That connection should be routed into a splitter, (if I remember right that goes into the back of your cassette deck or CD changer) BuddyRich could answer better than I, but my memory is usually accurate 30-50% of the time.

Following comments are related to the Zumo GPS. Not sure if the Nuvi will be the same.

The BR cable has two connectors for the GPS side. A 3.5mm connector for the audio out of the GPS and a 2.5mm connector for the microphone into the GPS. Both are connected to the side of the Zumo mounting cradle. The opposite end connectors are attached under the fairing per instructions from Buddy (in other words, I don't recall exactly where they are attached).
